One thing we want to highlight are our employees who are parents of children from a...ges 5-16 who are navigating online #distancelearning. #MonteVistaGroveHomes would like to highlight these employees for their efforts of working full time, taking care of a home, teaching their #students all while managing a #pandemic. Resident driven, weekly Convocations have been a part of Monte Vista Grove campus culture for years. Offering a variety of presentations, musical performances and speakers on a wide array of intellectual, theological, and cultural topics, organized and run by our creative and enterprising resident body. These gatherings are always free and open to the public! . Usually, Convocations are held here on campus each Thursday (with a summer hiatus), but this year we invite you to j...oin us from your living room. The virtual format allows anyone to join from anywhere, and allows us to host speakers from all over the world. . Assisted living residents are gathered in The Hearth family room to watch a zoom memorial service. . Today, our community is joining together both to grieve a dear friend, and to celebrate her life. As we mourn this life, we are keenly aware of just how vibrant and abundant that life was. As we grapple with the weight of our own sadness, we also take such deep comfort in the knowledge that she has finished her race and is now welcomed into the arms of God, for whom she lived... her life. . Grief can clarify joy. Absence can sharpen presence. Death can amplify life. This juxtaposition is timely today, as we collectively navigate the now-chronic uncertainty of life in a pandemic, and search for balance amid social and political issues shaping our culture. Under stress, rest becomes sweeter. In times of trial, our blessings stand out a little more. In a dark space, all light seems a bit brighter. . Today, our hearts are broken by the absence of this incredible women and so sad that we cannot hug and hold each other to mourn together. Yet we see hundreds of people on screens, joined together from all over the world, people who could not all be in one place under pre-covid circumstances, and we at Monte Vista Grove feel this community a little more deeply today. We are blessed beyond measure by life itself, and thankful to celebrate that together. See more

Yesterday was Luau Day at The Grove. Dietary put together a feast of Kahlua pork sliders and coconut and Maintenance staff helped deliver the meals to the campus residents Hawaiian style. #spreadaloha
