Modoc County Junior Livestock Show and Sale

Come on down to the Show on Friday and support the local FFA Chapters at the Community BBQ.

Youth ages 5 - 8 can also show at the Junior Livestock Show. We have a special division for the Pee Wee Showmanship in your family!! 4-H enrollment is not required. They can show: pygmy goats, dogs, cats, rats, mice, cavies, poultry and rabbits. Entry forms apply to get them in the show, no entry fees. Pickup forms at the 4-H Office or go to cemodoc.ucanr.edu and click on Junior Show tab then entry forms. Pee Wee's will show Wednesday, June 16 starting at 10am.

Modoc Junior Livestock Exhibitor's!! Forms for Entries, Trailer Spaces, Horse Stalls, and Barn Monitors are due by May 3, 2021 by 5:00 p.m. to the 4-H Office. Stall Deposits are the responsibility of the Clubs/Chapters and are also due on May 3, 2021. Heads up!! The Show is coming up rapidly. Please take the time and go over the rules in the Premium Book. Some things have been updated and it's a good refresher.... Premium Books and forms went out to the Community Club Leaders and Advisors but can also be found at cemodoc.ucanr.edu under the Junior Show tab. Or stop by the office and pick one up. Just wanted to remind those that will be exhibiting a MARKET Goat, Lamb or Hog at JLS to get your RSVP forms in for tagging. Forms are due to office by March 18th.

Small animal tagging is coming up!! If you will be exhibiting a MARKET Goat, Lamb or Hog at the Junior Livestock Show please plan on attending one of the taggings listed below. RSVP forms are required and have went out to FFA Advisors, 4-H Community Club and Project Leaders. Forms can also be picked up at the 4-H Office, called in 233-6400, or emailed to [email protected]. Forms are due to the 4-H Office by March 18, 2021. Alturas area: March 28, 2021 at the John Cummings M...emorial Livestock Grounds in Alturas. 9:00 to 11:00 am. Big Valley Area: April 10, 2021 at the Big Valley Veterinary Center in Adin. 10:00 to 11:00 am. Surprise Valley Area: April 10, 2021 at the Surprise Valley High School in Cedarville. 10:00 to 11:00 am. Please reserve your spot soon and HAPPY TAGGING!!

Just wanted to share a little about the amazing young lady that was the JLS Board President this year, Allison Deaton. Allison did an awesome job leading the board to a successful show and sale despite the obstacles that occured this year. Not only is Allison shaping into a great leader she also is an accomplished showman, taking Grand Champion in the Senior Round Robin Showmanship (Allison is receiving her RR award from sponsor Walt Davis of Edward Jones Investments). Thanks so much Allison and we wish you well in your upcoming college adventures.
