Hi everybody, On May,16 we had three amazing prepared speeches. In a first speech Irina shared something about who she is - her victories, challenges, and her dreams for future. In a second speech Natalia told about an importance to take care of your inner animal. Finally, in a third speech Santria told us about benefits of fast food. From there, under Cesar’s guidance we very naturally segued into Table Topics devoted to different aspects of food consumption. ... The meeting started at 3:40 and ended at 5:10pm. (We should seriously think about extending our meeting time from one hour to an hour and half!) Looking forward for our next meeting, May 21, 3:40, SEC-320. On April 25 our meeting was heated with the air of hot debates. We had one prepared speech, and two debates speeches with cross-examining. First, Susan gave a speech about dangers women may face in the streets, and importance of having a set of working self-defence tools. Then, Ellie presented her ideas about income taxes, and Salma, who was her cross-examinator, challenged her with with a number of questions. Finally, Emily and Sandra debated about a possibility to lower t...he age of consent. The third debate was a make-up for Arg and Debates class and was not planned in advance. Because of that, sadly, we had to cancel our Table Topics part. We were also vague with our timing these time. The meeting started at 3:44 and ended at 5pm. Looking forward for our meeting tomorrow, May 2, 3:40, SEC-320. On April 18 Cesar and Karen treated us with two very personal stories, first about feeling like a plastic bag and life choices we face, and second about everyday life and lessons we can learn from little mouses. From there, David smoothly led us into Table Topics. The theme of the Table Topics was Diversity. David challenged us with a variety of questions, some of which were light, and some quite serious. Salma, who shared her thoughts about her identity, became a winner... in this category. Finally, Karen suggested us all to think about how we want to spend $101 we were awarded for purchases on the Toastmasters website. April 11 was our first meeting after a Spring break! The word of the day was auspicious, which according to a Merriam-Webster dictionary means showing or suggesting that future success is likely or attended by good fortune (made an auspicious beginning, an auspicious year). We are clearly improving with our time boundaries. We started almost on time, at 3.45pm.... This time we had one prepared speech - a reflective speech about virginity - which was implemented by Natalia Troshina. The Table Topics Master was Kelly. According to a previous agreement, the theme of the table topics was Spring Forward, and Kelly suggested several questions to improvise in a mood of Spring.

Hi! Last time we were able to fit a lot of things in the meeting. We had two prepared persuasive speeches which were drafts for the classes: first delivered by David, second delivered by Vinh. Then, Karen and Phil explained a concept of Pathways, which is a tool helping you to set your goals at Toastmasters and track your progress. ... Finally, Vinh suggested his questions for Table Topics. The questions resonated with many of us a lot, so we had several very enthusiastic improvisational speeches.
