As a chiropractor, I feel a civic duty to serve my community to the best of ability, even amidst this pandemic. I don’t think anyone is exempt from feeling stress from the quarantines and social distancing, but I value the response patients and clients have to my care so much that the joy of working in my profession supersedes the other life stressors. This is why I not only do the minimum in my field, but strive for unrelenting growth each year. In California we are requir...ed to take 24 hours of continuing education each year, yet I average closer to 100. Jordan presented to the office originally for treatment of an old sports injury that led to a spiral fracture of his fibula (lower leg/high ankle). This injury led to chronic pain and a significant amount of scar tissue in his ankle, and chronic low back pain. Recently another sports injury led to a strain of musculature in his upper back. A protocol of adjusting and scraping has almost fully resolved his ankle injury (note the minimal inflammatory response seen after treatme...nt compared to his upper back). I love helping patients resolve sports injuries, especially those that are years old. Things to remember as Covid policies in California loosened and then rebounded back to being strict: (1) We as a community are in this together (2) No those that support mask wearing and distancing etc don’t like the policies, we abide by them because of their proven effectiveness (3) We are all frustrated by this situation, there is no benefit to arguing with each other over the situation we can’t control (4) Try to make or find time to do activities and hobbies you enjoy, or make an effort to find other new tasks to do that you have been procrastinating on doing

Home fitness equipment! Here is a small list of equipment to look into if you are bored out of mind from jogging around the block like I’ve been. Please feel free to DM or text the office with any questions (1) The sand bags from ultimatesandbagtraining.com are great and currently in use at my home. They have an option for water fill bags as well, which is great for cost efficiency so you aren’t buying crumb rubber or stealing sand from the beach. The power bag should be a go...od size for most people. (2) gorillabow.com bridges a nice gap between resistance band training and classic resistance training with free weights. I hate band workouts for many reasons due to the lack of proper handles, but this straight bar adaptation should be a great compromise. (3) the X3 Bar from jaquishbiomedical.com is a knurled Olympic bar with heavy bands and a floor plate. This is essentially the upgraded version of the previous, at a cost I would only recommend if you are truly interested in variable resistance home training. (4) Core fitness variable weight dumbbells from corehomefitness.com are cost effective and compact to mimic standard dumbbells. However, with some plastic parts they won’t withstand heavy abuse like dropping. (5) ironmaster.com has a lot of great built for lifetime equipment including the adjustable dumbbells, kettle bells, and even barbell set to build out a compact cost effective quality home set. (6) roguefitness.com is arguably the industry standard for home gyms and professional equipment. Making time to exercise is always important and should never be made less of a priority (quarantine included). If you are confused on what constitutes a healthy week of activity, this info graph graph breaks it down pretty well. Walking, running, and bike riding are all great and easy activities even amidst the social distancing order. Resistance training can be a bit difficult now without the gyms at disposal, however revisiting calisthenics in your regime is a great start. COVID-19 , Flattening the Curve. The outbreak at this point cannot be entirely contained. The virus has simply spread too far. The point of quarantine and social distancing is to alleviate the strain on the hospitals, and thus save as many lives as possible. For the majority of people, generic cold and flu symptoms with fever is all you will experience, however some unfortunate individuals will need to be in ICU and possibly intubated as well. We only have so many ICU beds an...d intubation units, so if we can SLOW the spread, then we can save lives. This is why these mandates are important. So, if not for yourself, but for the community around you, STAY HOME if you don’t HAVE to leave the house! This being said, I am still open and treating patients. I am a healthcare provider and it is my duty to continue to help people and alleviate the medical industry of further strain for conditions which are in my scope to treat. I am taking the same precautions I always do regardless, cleaning my hands between every patient, cleaning the table between every patient, and only seeing one individual at a time. This is part of the service fee you pay to see me in the boutique setting as opposed to the assembly line style. Don’t blame your age for your pain! Just because you are another year or decade older, doesn’t mean you are entitled to life long pain! Health and wellness is dependent on consistency over time. For example, just because you went running once this season doesn’t mean you will be able to get off the couch and run a marathon! It takes consistent effort over a long period of time to obtain results. That is why I recommend a minimum of at least one chiropractic visit and one massage per month.
