Small vegetation quickly extinguished this evening by your Mill Valley Firefighters in the area of Camino Alto and Chapman Drive... this serves as a reminder that fire season is fast approaching and with no rain in sight it may come sooner rather than later #millvalley #earlyfireseason

Facing a February without rain, I’m reminded how important it is to think ahead to fire season. The folks in our fire department do an amazing job in increasing...ly demanding circumstances. I’m grateful to have their endorsement for the election on March 3rd. #urbancarmelformillvalley #urbancarmel.com

To our friends and families in Marin, Many of you will be receiving mailers today sent on our behalf to the communities of Mill Valley, Ross,San Anselmo, Sleep...y Hollow, Fairfax, and the West Marin Communities. These are part of an important public awareness campaign to make sure our citizens and tax payers are aware of the dangers that are present when local governments make the choice to understaff their Fire Departments. Our dedicated brothers and sisters work hard on your behalf daily, but they are not in control of the budgets or decision making processes that allow municipalities to take chances with your safety. Every household and business in our beautiful county deserves rapid Advanced Life Support Response on fire engines staffed with enough professional firefighters to make a difference when seconds count. Please visit protectmarin.org and get involved

***This product has been updated. Please see most recent post for current information*** Original Post: The High Wind Watch has been upgraded to a Wind Advisory... from Saturday evening through Monday Morning for the North Bay Mountains, East Bay Hills & Diablo Range, Interior East Bay Valleys, Santa Cruz Mountains, San Francisco Peninsula, SF Peninsula Coast, and Coastal North Bay. A dry cold front an upper trough will move through the region into Sunday morning bringing a burst of breezy north to northeast winds to the region. Winds will increase again Sunday afternoon. Expect sustained north to northeast winds from 15 to 35 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph, locally higher gusts possible over the North Bay Mountains where the strongest winds are anticipated. Strong winds may blow down limbs and power lines. Scattered power outages are possible. Gusty winds will also make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles or those pulling trailers.
