We are excited to share another successful Match! James (left) works as a security guard in SF, but has been living in Airbnbs since he arrived ten months ago. Finding stable housing during COVID-19 proved to be extra difficult, especially with security deposits and high rents creating large lump sums that are difficult to pay up front. Michael is a recent widower who has lived his adventure in the City in his Nob Hill home for decades, and is excited to provide a stable home... for James to do the same. He's now looking forward to James' family-style recipes he learned from growing up in a large family, which we love -- we want everyone in Home Match to feel as safe and as comfortable as they are with family! We think there's no better way to feel like family than with a large home-cooked meal. After all, Thanksgiving is just around the corner! See more

We are thrilled to have another Match to share with you! Sid (right) and Brian are both long-term residents of San Francisco. They bonded over their mutual love of swimming in the Bay -- we think that sounds wonderful after all the hot days we've been having! They were also drawn to each other because, like many of us, they were looking for support during difficult financial times due to COVID-19. Our whole application and matching process is designed with the intent to keep everyone as safe as possible from the coronavirus. It was a breath of fresh air after move-in day when they could both take their masks off! If you or someone you know is looking for a place to live or has extra room in their home, we would love to hear from you! Send us a message or leave a comment below.

We want you to be counted in the 2020 census! Make sure you're counted as part of your community -- the census influences representation, federal funding, and more that will impact us all over the next decade. Make sure the schools, highways, and those in public service such as firefighters get all the attention they need, all by filling out a few questions! The census can be completed online, over the phone, or by mail -- but the deadline is next week, September 30th! Check out the link below to complete the survey in any of 13 available languages: https://2020census.gov/en/ways-to-respond.html

We love this week's #WChallenge! Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been celebrated throughout the country for her work on the Supreme Court and beyond as a champion of gender equality. There are so many women in the #100Women challenge, but we wanted to highlight one close to home! Felicia "Flames" Elizondo is an American transgender woman with a long history of activism on behalf of the LGBTQ community. She was a regular at Gene Compton's Cafeteria in San Francisco during the ...time of the Comton's Cafeteria riot, a historic LGBTQ community uprising. Since moving to SF in 1991, she has worked with city officials to commemorate other social and civil rights leaders in various ways, including renaming the 100 block of Taylor Street to Gene Compton's Cafeteria Way. We salute her work, Justice Ginsburg's work, and all other women who play parts big and small in progress and the drive for equality. Don't forget, your voice is required for change -- so make sure you're registered to vote! Check out https://lwvsf.org/vote for some great resources and information thanks to the League of Women Voters of San Francisco.

We were so happy to join with the San Francisco Family Support Network - SFFSN recently, which brought us a very engaged group over Zoom to talk about all sorts of services for older adults in San Francisco. We even played a themed version of Jeopardy! to learn more about social isolation, nutrition, creative aging, and other Covia programs such as Covia Home Match, Covia Social Call, and Covia Well Connected!

Many of the people who apply to our program are older adults and essential workers. We are taking COVID-19 very seriously in order to keep everyone safe and healthy during the pandemic. We know searching for a house can be daunting, especially in times like these. For that reason, we created a resource booklet for both participants and providers. In the booklet, you'll find both our time-proven best practices, honed over our eight years of experience, as well as our latest COVID-19 safety guidelines, informed by the CDC and Bay Area county health orders. With this booklet, we want our participants to move forward with confidence in their home-sharing decisions. Hello, Home Matchers! We are excited to share some the results from our annual Impact Survey of matched participants! We hope this gives you some insight into our program and the benefits of home sharing. This year's overwhelmingly positive feedback both warms our hearts and demonstrates the impact of our housing services on our participants. With Home Match, participants have saved on housing costs, feel more connected to their communities, and feel more secure in their hous...ing. In fact, every single participant mentioned that they would recommend our program to a friend or relative -- or already have! We think housing is a human right, and we are so grateful and proud to be a part of the vital housing resources in the Bay Area. We want to thank everyone who has supported us along the way, from city organizations to people like you! You don't have to take our word for it -- check out the photos below to find out the Top 4 Reasons People Love Home Match!

We hope August finds you safe and well, Home Matchers. We are thrilled to start the month off by sharing another Match! Both Charlotte and Sue have lived in the Bayview neighborhood for years. Charlotte recently had to leave her long-term rental, but she knew she wanted to stay in the area. Sue is very active in the neighborhood, and was thrilled to provide housing to another long-term Bayview resident! They both take COVID-19 safety very seriously -- they even showed us thei...r homemade COVID-Kit, which they keep within easy reach at all times! We are so appreciative to all our Matches who have taken the pandemic so seriously, and have treated each other with such care. We're all in this together, and we think Sue and Charlotte are a great reminder of that. See more
