We've have been quiet for a while, but now is not the time for silence. Over the last week, women in the craft beer industry have bravely shared their experiences of sexism, sexual harassment, & discrimination in the workplace. The stories are harrowing and Mikkeller Running Club both applauds the courage of the survivors for coming forward, and uniformly rejects the harassment. ... Unfortunately, these stories are not new and women both in and out of the workplace have suffered abuse at the hands of men individually and oppressive structures collectively for far too long. It is our duty to stand with victims of abuse, amplify their voices, and do our part to crush oppression wherever we see it. As always, our Mikkeller Running Club community aims to promote inclusion, equity & justice, and will support businesses that align with our values. We will not tolerate sexism or harassment in our community and will diligently root out any seeds of abuse or discrimination in our club. What we will do is celebrate & respect the women that make MRC a vibrant organization and give space for their stories to be told. We will only bring our club to businesses that are committed to diversity, gender equity, anti-harassment, and anti-sexism. We will always provide channels for our members to report abuse. As we begin to gather again, the MRC community recommits itself to this pledge and to the women who play such a vital role in our club. See more

Well that was a pretty perfect Pop-Up, pushing miles, pedaling in the peloton, & poppin’ some post-fitness pilsners! By all accounts, Pop-Up No. 2 was an endorphin spectacle as we welcomed an exemplary crew of MRC OC runners both new & old for a socially-distanced group run and some good, ole fashioned clinking of the glasses to celebrate our collective miles. A major thank you to all who joined us yesterday! On that note, it was most excellent to join forces ...with @mikkellercyclingclub_oc to double the sweatiness and triple the fun. We also want to extend a huge air-high-five to our friends @greencheekbeer in Costa Mesa for hosting our crew, serving us with poise & panache while keeping us safe & spread out. POP-UP RUN & RIDE ALERT! WHEN: Saturday, 11/14 @ 9:00AM (RIDE ) & 10:00AM (RUN ) WHERE: Green Cheek COSTA MESA (@greencheekbeertoo)... WHAT: Join MRC + our friends @mikkellercyclingclub_oc for the second in our series of POP-UP running, cycling, & beer events! All our pop-ups are surprise events at rotating locations & unexpected dates, announced on short notice so that crowd sizes stay small. Everyone is welcome & no sign ups are required. We'll be gathering outdoors for some group fitness, so take your pick between running or riding! Either choice is a win & both end with (optional) beers + lunch on the Green Cheek patio. SAFETY: Masks are required at all times when gathering, socializing, & hanging out. If possible, we strongly encourage face coverings while running/riding. Please practice social distancing (6 ft apart) throughout the event. Avoid crowding together after our run/ride. Please also use a friendly one-finger salute as a greeting as opposed to our usual high-fives & hugs. And for the love of all things holy, PLEASE stay home if you aren't feeling well. RUN: Our group run will start promptly at 10:00am following brief announcements. We will stagger starts to keep our runners spread out. We've got 4, 5, & 6-mile routes lined up for you! Everyone is free to run at their own pace & the routes will be shared before our run. RIDE: See the most recent post @mikkellercyclingclub_oc for all the mission-critical deets on tomorrow’s ride! POST-RUN/RIDE RULES: Green Cheek is reserving a section of tables for MRC/MCC members who choose to stick around for lunch + beers. Please note, you MUST be seated at a table at all times. Commingling between tables is prohibited. You must be wearing a mask unless you are seated and eating/drinking. There is a 90-minute limit per table & you must order a meal in order to be served alcohol. We highly recommend that you only take a seat with members of your "bubble." What’s more, we teamed up with the jovial folks over at @mikkellercyclingclub_oc which majorly upped the endorphin ante. That’s right... some ran, others rode, some did both, and everyone crushed the zestiest of suds. Good work out there, Team MRC + MCC! By every measure, today was a total success and we will most definitely be dropping more fresh pop-ups for y’all over the coming weeks. Stay tuned! We've got a 3.8-mile route lined up for you, which can easily be shortened or lengthened as you see fit! Everyone is free to run at their own pace and the route will be shared before our run. RIDE: Our group ride will start promptly at 10:45am. Plan on 20 miles through Back Bay, over to UCI, along the Irvine bike trail and back, all in a no-drop, group setting while maintaining a moderate pace (~15mph). Helmets are required, a spare tire is your safety boat, & safe riding practices are a must. BEERS: This is a BYOB event, so bring along a beer or two in a cooler @mikkellersd beers preferred! Actually, it’s been a minute, so we’re going to take a moment to contemplate our undying love for the @mikkellerrunningclub community:... Now that we have entered a Zen-like state we’d like to tell you that together with our homies @mikkellercyclingclub_oc we’re kicking off a series of pop-up runs & rides across Orange County! Expect all the community & camaraderie of MRC/MCC, boatloads of beers, & high-quality group fitness, but now packaged in a 100% outdoor format complete with social distancing, masks, and manageable group sizes. These are true pop-up events, so they will take place on short notice at a variety of times & places, all in an effort to control group size while giving our members the opportunity to connect & sweat safely! Well that was a good, ol' fashion running party! We gathered a small but mighty cadre of MRC OC athletes for a socially distanced group 5K and then quenched our collective thirsts with a bounty of beverages courtesy of the beer wizards @noblealeworks! What's more, we also welcomed a handful of new MRC members, as well as some extra special MRC guests all the way from the @mrcqueens chapter in New York (#mrctourism)! And if that's not enough, the sweet melodies of @rafa_and_po...rque_si filled the air as they treated us to some seriously catchy acoustic tunes. Long story short, it was a beautiful endorphin-filled summer evening We're also honored to have used last night's event to support the @aclu_nationwide racial justice fund. For each beer sold last night, MRC is donating $1 to the ACLU to preserve and extend constitutionally guaranteed rights to people who have historically been denied their rights on the basis of race. We're looking forward to our next event together as we explore new ways to host in-person events while ensuring the health & safety of our community. Our next run is tentatively scheduled for the next 2nd Saturday, which is July 11. Stay tuned for more details. We know your school nights may have been less than zesty these last few months, so we're stoked to up your weeknight endorphin levels with the resurrection of a 4th Thursday fan favorite MRC OC: MID-WEEK ( s o c i a l d i s t a n c e ) EDITION! That's right, MRC OC fam, this Thursday, 6/25 @ 7:00PM we're heading back to our old stomping grounds @noblealeworks in Anaheim for a downright cornucopia of group miles (we’ll be running a 5K as a socially-distanced ...group) followed by endlessly flowing post-run beverages (unfortunately, high-fives are still on hold, but this can be easily replaced with a friendly ) PLEASE NOTE: in order to regulate group size and ensure social distancing, registration is REQUIRED to participate in this event. Space is limited to 30 runners, so make haste and tap the link in our bio to register. Your registration is not complete until you receive an email confirmation from us (please allow up to 24 hours to receive confirmation). If we reach capacity, we will add you to a waiting list. WE'RE (sorta/kinda) GOING LIVE AGAIN! It is with great excitement, some nerves, & a whole lot of caution that we announce that we're launching our first in-person event in over three months! This event will take place on Saturday, 6/20 and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. We will subdivide this event into three micro-events two running events, and one cycling event with the homies @mikkellercyclingclub_oc! Attendance capacity at each micro-event is limited to 10 athletes and REG...ISTRATION IS REQUIRED to participate (registration is free). Again, please note that in order to regulate the number of MRC athletes in attendance, registration + email confirmation is REQUIRED to run or ride at this event.
