So many of the couples I work with tell me "we're not good at communicating". While this isn't directed at couples, the concept works for ANY conversation, whatever the relationship! Her tips are simple and straightforward, and can have a huge impact. Have a listen :)

"Lean into relationships" - what a great reminder to keep perspective on what will make you authentically happy throughout your life, as well as putting your time and energy into it!

Happy New Year! Whether you believe in making New Year's resolutions or not, the concept of not giving up on your goals is always relevant!

What a powerful example of what can happen when we meet people where they are instead of trying to fit them to an existing system or protocol. There's a good and a bad side to texting, for sure, but this seems to be using it in a very effective way and opening the doors for communication where it otherwise might have stayed closed. Thoughts??

Don't be scared off by the length, this is an easy read and a beautiful poem! Kindness Before you know what kindness really is... you must lose things, feel the future dissolve in a moment like salt in a weakened broth. What you held in your hand, what you counted and carefully saved, all this must go so you know how desolate the landscape can be between the regions of kindness. How you ride and ride thinking the bus will never stop, the passengers eating maize and chicken will stare out the window forever. Before you learn the tender gravity of kindness, you must travel where the Indian in a white poncho lies dead by the side of the road. You must see how this could be you, how he too was someone who journeyed through the night with plans and the simple breath that kept him alive. Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside, you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing. You must wake up with sorrow. You must speak to it till your voice catches the thread of all sorrows and you see the size of the cloth. Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore, only kindness that ties your shoes and sends you out into the day to mail letters and purchase bread, only kindness that raises its head from the crowd of the world to say it is I you have been looking for, and then goes with you everywhere like a shadow or a friend. Short but thought-provoking, and I think a great illustration of the concept of a self-fulfilling prophecy and the idea that we, in a sense, create our own realities.

This is beautiful! I find it to be so, so true. Don't expect your own growth and change to be a smooth, seamless process. Appreciate its messiness and trust the process!

This is all at once fascinating and heartbreaking, and speaks a lot to the far-reaching effects of trauma.
