Happy 3rd birthday to our XX litter! This is Xuxu du Loups du Soleil. She is owned by myself and Immersion Program graduate and MES Staff Trainer Jesi Knight (@jesijexplore ). Xuxu is the mom to our CCC litter and is now prepping for her Mondioring 1. We hope all of her siblings have a great birthday and we’re proud of all of you! @ Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers

Here’s a little throwback for your Thursday! This is me working Nick Nik von Sontausen SchH3 IPO3 WDS3 UDT PT NW Regional SchH3 Champion, North American SchH2 Champion when he was just a little puppy 17 years ago!! Nick was born on September 23, 2003 and was just 14 weeks the day this photo was taken. The day before his 3rd birthday he won his first ScHH3 at regionals! Nick lived to be almost 15 years old and accomplished many things alongside his handler and breeder, Julia... Priest (@coachforcanines ). It was a pleasure working with Julia and Nick in training! We want to see your training throwbacks. Post a picture of yourself working your dog(s) when you were first starting out and tag us! #throwbackthursday #michaelellisschool #dogtraining

This is Caliber du Loups du Soleil! He is almost 20 weeks and is one of the puppies from our CCC litter. He is being raised by Immersion Program graduate Angela Greer (@a_greer2323 ). Caliber is very food motivated and loves the pool. Angela is planning on doing Mondioring and dock diving with him, as well as some detection. We look forward to seeing how far this team goes! @ Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers

She is being raised by our friends, and MES instructors, Jess and Sara @sonomacountycanine. Cabbie is very food motivated and is learning the foundations of a wide variety of disciplines such as agility, obedience, and protection work. We love seeing her grow and learn! We are exited to announce the start of our 2020 Fall Immersion Program! Through these tough times it is nice to get back to some normalcy. We are welcoming eight new students, two of which are taking the entire program online. These students and their dogs will be taking a deep dive into all things dog related! As of today, we have no in-person weekly classes scheduled, but are working on different online options you can take remotely! We will keep you informed on future course options. Stay safe and keep training your dogs!!

Update! We will be running our summer courses live online, starting with our June Obedience Intensive. This is our core course, and is the foundation, and a prerequisite, for many of our more specific courses, like Behavior Modification and Advanced Obedience. The courses will be fully interactive, with lecture, demonstrations, discussion, and guided practice. So, for those of you who have been wanting to take a course, but couldn't make the trip, here is your chance! Students can register directly through our website, and we look forward to seeing you all on our tv screen!

Yesterday we said goodbye to the incomparable Shrike du Loups du Soleil. Our corner of the world won't be the same without his infectious good nature, boundless, goofy energy, and total commitment to the moment at hand, which includes an insatiable desire, and uncanny ability, to find every last ball, puppy toy, and piece of recycling the world over. One silver lining in this pandemic, for our family, is that we were able to really be there with him for the last several weeks, which was truly a gift. RIP Shrike, we love you!

Online Classes Starting in April! We have two new online classes starting this month. The first is our Principles of Dog Training course that we offer in partnership with Leerburg, through their Online University. This class is an online version of the Obedience Intensive course that we offer at our school, and can be used in place of that course as a prerequisite for our more advanced courses. It starts on Monday April 13th. https://university.leerburg.com/Catalog/viewCou...rse/cid/10 The second class is our first foray into online teaching using Zoom. We are going to run our popular Behavior Modification course starting on Monday April 20th. Students will have to have taken our Obedience Intensive (or Principles of Dog Training) and Management courses as prerequisites. The course will run for two weeks for about four hours a day. Email the school for details or to register. [email protected] Looking forward to seeing you all on my screen!

Let me start by saying that we hope everyone is managing to stay healthy through these trying times, and that we all get to return to our regular work in the not too distant future. Like most of you, we are quarantined at home, which is giving me the opportunity to explore different teaching options. With that in mind I am starting to offer online coaching/lessons via Zoom. Starting on Monday April 6th I will have four, half hour, sessions, available each day. I am happy... to cover whatever material you'd like. Sessions will be offered at a discounted rate for the duration of our quarantine ($100 US per session) payable via PayPal. If you want me to be able to see you live, then you will need a laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a camera, and a good, high speed, internet connection, and you will need to download the Zoom app. If you want me to review video before the session (maximum of five minutes please) upload it to Youtube and email the link to [email protected] Please do not email videos. We hope to have scheduling automated soon, but for the first week we will be scheduling via email. Sessions will be offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12 (noon), 12:45 pm, 1:30 pm, and 2:15 pm pacific time, and Tuesday and Thursday at 9 am, 9:45 am, 10:30 am, and 11:15 am pacific time on a first come first served basis. Please email us with questions or to schedule a session, again to [email protected] Thanks, and stay safe! See more
