I spent the day blissfully away from my computer, being present in the moment and celebrating #MothersDay with my family - so I am just now getting the chance to post this pre-Covid picture. I hope everyone showered their mothers and mother figures with love. I hope those who have lost mothers were able to take a moment and remember them with appreciation and love.

Heartbroken over the news of a mass shooting at a union meeting in San Jose this morning. My thoughts are with the families, friends, and coworkers of those affected. We must take stronger action to end the epidemic of gun violence in this country.

Endorsement Alert Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan endorses Mia Bonta for Assembly! It’s an honor to have Supervisor Chan’s support. Supervisor Chan shares my vision for lifting up all residents of the East Bay by building more affordable housing, providing more resources to our students and teachers, and supporting our small businesses and the working families they rely on. I look forward to working closely with her should I have the privilege of serving in the Assembly.

I am thrilled to announce that I have just been endorsed by the California Teachers Association. I can't think of a better way to end #TeacherAppreciationWeek than to be able to thank our teachers for all of their work and this incredible honor.

I'm proud to sign the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge. I also support a full ban on fracking and I'll fight to protect CA's coasts and wildlife, support clean energy investments, and push for stricter environmental regulations to protect our planet for future generations #NoFossilFuelMoney

#PressRelease SEIU California endorses Mia Bonta in the 18th Assembly District Special Election ALAMEDA, CA - The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California announced their endorsement of Mia Bonta in the special election to represent the 18th Assembly District. Mia has also earned the endorsement of UAPD/AFSCME Local 206, underscoring her growing labor support. I’m honored to have the endorsement of SEIU California because service workers are the foundation of... our economy and our community, Mia Bonta said. This past year has not been easy and we have essential workers to thank for keeping our community going during the pandemic. Now it’s time to make sure our working families are taken care ofand that means passing legislation that will put more money in workers’ pockets, protect renters, fund child care, and so much more. I look forward to being a voice for all of California’s working families in the Assembly. SEIU CA, representing over 700,000 members across the state of California, is proud to endorse Mia Bonta for the 18th Assembly District because Mia is a fierce champion for working families and embodies our shared values of economic, racial, social, environmental, and immigrant justice, said April Verrett, President of SEIU Local 2015 and Executive Board member of SEIU California. Mia has a deep family history in the labor movement, including family who are SEIU members, and a proven track record of advocating for working families and children throughout her many years of nonprofit, community, and elected leadership in the East Bay. SEIU CA represents 17 local unions and their members, including so many essential workers who have been hit hard by the pandemics of COVID 19 and racial, health, economic, environmental and housing injustice. As our communities recover from the COVID 19 pandemic and we redouble our efforts to empower and uplift our working families, Mia will be a champion in our fight for income equality, renter protections, school funding, immigrant rights, and more."

Election Update U.S. Senator Alex Padilla today endorsed Mia Bonta in the special election to represent California’s 18th Assembly District. Senator Padilla joins Secretary of State Shirley Weber, State Treasurer Fiona Mia, the California Latino Legislative Caucus, the California Legislative Black Caucus, and numerous local leaders and organizations in supporting Mia Bonta. It’s an honor to have Senator Padilla’s endorsement. Like Senator Padilla, I grew up in a working... class family and education was my catapult to accomplishing my dreams. That’s why I’ve dedicated my career to helping children access educational opportunities that will help them achieve their own dreams. I hope to continue expanding on that work in the Assembly, as well as help working families recover from the pandemic, bring California’s students and teachers safely back to in-person school, fight for environmental justice, and address the root causes of homelessness and the housing crisis. - Mia Bonta See more

Election Update The California Latino Legislative Caucus today announced their endorsement of Mia Bonta in the special election to represent the 18th Assembly District. Mia Bonta has also earned the endorsement of the California Legislative Black Caucus and numerous current and former state legislators, demonstrating Mia’s broad support from her would-be peers in the State Legislature. As the daughter of Puerto Rican activists, Mia grew up surrounded by her community ...fighting for equity and justice, said CLLC Chair Maria Elena Durazo. Historically our institutions have failed Latino communities, especially this past year as Covid-19 disproportionately affected Latinos. As an Afro-Latina, Mia supports our priorities to protect and uplift workers, increase access to affordable healthcare, support immigrant businesses, care for the environment, and create safe communities where all are welcome. The CA Latino Legislative Caucus Is proud to endorse her. I’m honored to have the support of the CLLC, said Mia Bonta. Latinos make up 40% of California’s population and yet so many in our community still struggle to access pathways to economic mobility such as higher education and homeownership. I look forward to working with the CLLC on legislation to address these inequalities and my personal priorities of helping our community recover from the pandemic, supporting schools and teachers to get students back to in-person school, and addressing the root causes of homelessness to mitigate this escalating crisis.
