Mclane Highlanders Track & Field

2021 NYL Champions. The last championship was 20 years ago on this same track in Reedley. We've been coming up short and we finally kicked in the door. Our kids brought in 29 personal records peaking at the right time. I am so proud of their effort.

For those who don't know, I am the Head Football Coach of McLane High School. Please support these kids, they have already had to deal with more than any football team in the history of America. GO HIGHLANDERS! We are not here to take part, we are here to take over!

Its been years since McLane Track & Field had a pole vault pit. We have lost two league titles because we could not compete in that area. I am proud to say, PROBLEM SOLVED! A big thank you to a supportive administration.

The year in review. It was a great season. Our kids had over 200 Pr's on the season. We were able to bring back pole vault after a 12 year absence. We still do not have a pole vault pit but managed to take 2nd,third and foutrth at our league championships. Finished top 3 in 5 out 6 invitationals and won two of those. We qualified throwers, jumpers, hurdlers and relays into the north area championships. Our boys team was 8-1 vs league opponents and our girls were 5-5.... Going into the league championships our Girls were projected to finish 5th and our boys were supposed to finish in second by more than 25 points. Well our kids stepped up. Our ladies finished 3rd and our boys missed a championship performance by 2 points. We lost 131 to 133. It was a bitter pill to swallow. we turned in 25 PR's on the day. we had individual champions in shot put, discus, high jump and hurdles. The effort and attitude of our athletes was awesome. their true character and highlander spirit were on full display. I could not be prouder of this team. I would like to thank everyone that contributed to our team. You helped us to make it all possible. Giving McLane athletes a positive and competitive experience. Thank You again for all your support. Once a Highlander always a Highlander. HIGHLANDERS NEVER QUIT!

Laquante Harris is an awesome young man. He was a huge part of the success that the Mclane Athletic program had during his 4 years. He is deserving of the opportunities he has before him and just needs a little help, as we all do from time to time.
