The Merced County Veteran’s Services Office (VSO) is committed to honoring our service members again this Veterans Day in a safe and responsible manner amidst t...he COVID-19 pandemic. With restrictions on large group gatherings, this year’s activities will shift to an online setting with the VSO’s Virtual Veterans Day. The Virtual Veterans Day will consist of a video depicting elements of the annual Veterans Day Parade. The video will include the pledge of allegiance, national anthem, interviews with Grand Marshals and a message from Congressman Jim Costa. The VSO will also post pictures and short videos of the public honoring veterans on Veterans Day on its Facebook page. The event will take place at 1 p.m. Nov. 11. Good morning Merced. With the temporary closure of R street the traffic on M street has noticeably increased. As a result the speed trailers have been relocated to west 22nd and M street and Buena Vista Dr and M street. Remember from your friendly neighborhood traffic cop, drive sensibly arrive safely!
