In a tight race, Antonio López ’12 won a seat on East Palo Alto City Council, becoming, at age 26, its youngest member. Antonio ran on a platform emphasizing the importance of equal opportunity for East Palo Alto youth, as well as the contrast between the city’s cultural richness and its history of political and economic disenfranchisement. He has been a deeply involved member of the alumni community, even speaking to students in a Modern Political Rhetoric Class in the midst of campaigning.
