Bringing cute carnival carnies and festivities to our Melrose Gardens Assisted Living! Featuring classic goodies like popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones, as well as fun and games and prizes; we had a blast celebrating summer (safely)!
Carnival at The Cottages was a colorful blast of food, fun, and games!
Happy Memorial Day! Here at Melrose Gardens we had both fun moments for staff and residents, as featured below with our specialty red, white, and blue party goodies! We challenged ourselves with memorial day trivia, watched the talented pilots flyover on TV, tried "Bootcamp Exercise", and observed solemn moments such as the minute of silence for fallen soldiers and healthcare workers. Thank you to all who have served, including our own resident veterans!
Our Melrose Gardens staff are doing their best to provide quality care for our residents, who still enjoy meaningful pursuits as safely as possible during this Coronavirus pandemic. All of the efforts we have put into keeping our community safe and happy have been recognized by Sarah Ordover of Assisted Living Locators in various LA news articles! On International Nurses Day today, we had the chance to not only thank our working nurses, but also our residents who served as nurses during their careers! In total, we had over 100 years of nursing completed between these five special ladies! Thank you for your years of service, Flora, Teresa, Annette, Denise, and Fusako!
A very happy Mother’s Day to all our beautiful mothers, we wish you an amazing celebration!
This week is National Nurses Week and we are so grateful for the work they do! Big thank you to the medical staff here at Melrose Gardens and across the country as they put their patients first.
Every day we have an opportunity to sit back and relax with various drinks as we get to know our friends better and share experiences and laughter with one another. From coffee chats to hot cocoa bar creations to high teas and ice cream parlors, there are a variety of tastes and conversations to be sampled. Pictured here is one of our weekly High Tea experiences! #assistedliving #senioractivities #hightea
One of our talented artists at Melrose Gardens, Mitchell enjoys artistic endeavors both big and small, and always presents people with gifts of his creations! We appreciate the artistic flair he brings to our creative opportunities! #senioractivities #assistedliving #bookmarkart
These ladies of Melrose Gardens are always ready for a morning and afternoon stroll through the park next door! #seniorfitness #assistedliving
TBT to Mardi Gras last week! We let the good times roll with masks, beads, and a great NOLA dinner!
January is #NationalHobbyMonth! Hobbies are a great way for everyone - especially seniors to enrich their lives and keep busy. Here are some fun hobby ideas that are perfect for senior citizens: 1. Gardening - spending time outdoors and nurturing plants are a great way to appreciate nature in a creative way. 2. Writing - keep in touch with friends and family by writing them letters on beautiful stationary. 3. Scrapbooking - collect photos of family, friends travels and other ...things you love to add to a scrapbook filled with all of your favorite memories. 4. Painting - stock up on canvases and paints - paint what comes to mind or join an art class in your community. 5. Dancing - many community centers offer dance classes like ballroom, salsa, tango and more. 6. Golfing - not only fun but great for dexterity and physical mobility 7. Cards and word games - get a competitive fire going with friends while exercising your brain. 8. Yoga - find your zen and improve flexibility, heart health, mindfulness and more. 9. Swimming - as we age, many forms of exercise become more difficult - swimming is a great exercise that’s easy on the muscles and joints. 10. Volunteering - helping others improves our quality of life and is a great way to get involved in the community. What are some of your favorite hobbies? Share with us in the comments! #TipTuesday See more
