We Love Our Patients! "I had an accident and cracked my ankle last Saturday; I had surgery yesterday. I met with Dr. Meadows on Monday, she said I did need surgery. Yesterday was my surgery day and the staff and Dr. was so amazing. I love Dr. Meadows! She was so patient and followed up with me today on my after care. There was many people in the operating room: Mary was so kind and patient with starting my iv which I’m terrified of. Then there was Rick he helped me from the moment I came in till I went home. He held my hand and reassured me I will be ok, helping me through it all. He is such a caring soul I am forever grateful for him making me feel comfortable in a scary situation. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hospital. Thank you again to all who took great care of me." Brenda H.

(Mee)t The Team: Dr. Robert Valladares The career of Dr. Robert Valladares, or Dr. V for short, took him all over the country, from Boston and Dallas to St. Louis and Charleston, but it wasn’t until he landed in King City at Mee Memorial Healthcare System, that he found what he was really looking for. The opportunity to expand my role and have a larger impact was very attractive, said Dr. V, who is now the Chief Medical Officer at Mee Memorial. I saw the role of CMO at MMH...S was a blank canvas; the complete rebuild of medical services from the ground up and that was very appealing to me. At the heart of what he was looking for was giving back to the community in tangible, results-oriented ways. I was raised with a strong spirit of giving back and believe it’s important to contribute to the Latino community in particular, he said. I grew up a son of Guatemalan immigrants, speaking Spanish as my first language. I saw firsthand how often the Latino community is not given the priority of medical care or the tools needed to stay healthy that was another great attraction for me to this area. More to come on Dr. V!

Honor a Loved One With Forever Rose Bush If you’re looking for a memorable and beautiful way to honor a loved one, heirloom roses are hard to beat. Mee Memorial Hospital in King City has a spectacular Memorial Rose Garden planted more than 50 years ago, featuring 150 gorgeous rose bushes. Mee Memorial Hospital Foundation is now offering local residents the unique opportunity to honor a loved one or celebrate a special occasion by purchasing a rose bush ($500) located around t...he garden’s walking path. Your donation represents a forever purchase, meaning a loved one’s name will never be removed from the garden. People may hand-select a rose bush among the 150 still available, based on color or location. The garden is funded entirely by donations, with gifts to the garden recognized by the foundation (unless anonymity is requested). The foundation staff works together with volunteers to take care of the roses and tend the garden, which is open to the public. For more information about honoring a family member in the Memorial Rose Garden, call (831) 385-7233 or email [email protected]. https://bit.ly/3u0Wfh2 See more

The California Department of Public Health reported 46 positive influenza tests for the 2020-2021 season by the end of the second week of December. In the 2019-2020 flu season, there were 3,316 positive influenza tests by the second week of December. Since the flu virus spreads through respiratory droplets just like COVID-19, the measures taken to slow the spread of COVID-19 (social distancing/masks/not gathering) could also be slowing the spread of flu transmission. Stop COVID-19 and flu transmission. Keep wearing your mask, social distancing and avoiding gatherings of people not in your household!
