This just plain sucks! The Train Depot (Iron Rail before that) has been serving the Fresno area for before I can even remember. My daughter has their gravy in her DNA. I have seen and been asked a few times, What do the firefighters need and how can we get things to them. So... They love the fact that people are thinking abo...ut them and want to help. I can tell you first hand that the Firefighters are VERY well taken care of! I have worked a couple Strike Teams back in the day, we got everything we needed from our departments/base camp. My company had provided security for Fire Camps in recent years and nothing has changes, heck, they took real good care of my guys too. If want to help Firefighters, help the Huntington & Shaver Lake Volunteer Fire Departments. Those guys and gals are working for free (Volunteering, not CDF/CalFire Paid Call Firefighters). Several have lost their houses and are still working the fire lines, for free. I know Shaver Lake Vol Fire Dept had equipment damaged and destroyed, they have a go fun me account right now. These Firefighters need your help, but not food, drinks, snakes, etc. They will need your cash. (Pictured is Shaver Lake VFD Chief Vehicle) The people who lost every thing and could not afford Homeowners Insurance, they will need your help. My family had a house very close to Cressman's General Store, on Peterson Rd. (It has not been in the family for a few years, we didn't loose anything) but, the Insurance prices got so high up there that many are living without insurance. This is one of the worst things about living in the Mts, no one wants to insure you. So... If your want to help Firefighters on the front lines, say thank you, donate to the Volunteer Departments up there. You can really help if you donate to the Red Cross, and local organization up there helping those who are displaced. There are several real GoFundme accounts, that could use your money, I know Cressmans's has one. I will compile some later and place in comments.
