Our CEO, Patrick Dahlson, wanted to give an update on what is going on with our Ecuadorian rose growers and the current rose supply. Please take a minute to watch the video below. Thank you! "I want to talk a little bit about what happened 3 months ago. Three months ago, we were all shut down by COVID-19. In that shutdown, all of our businesses were severely impacted, but what I want to talk about are the farms. The farms around the world were forced to shut down. In particul...ar, this message is about Ecuadorian roses and Ecuadorian farms. We are experiencing a serve shortage of roses right now and probably for the next 3-4 weeks due to the fact that the farms were shut down and workers were not allowed to do the work that it takes to take care of the crops. When they came back, they were coming back in limited amounts of people to do the work and we are being forced to deal with the rose crops themselves being damaged during that time and it is taking time to get the workers back in and to get the plants back healthy. There is also this thing we all know in this industry calls the Valentine's pinch, which also created the shortage that we are currently dealing with. This message is about how there are so few roses available from Ecuador and the market. Mayesh Wholesale in particular is a big Ecuadorian rose supplier. Again, all farms were hurt, but at the moment what we are seeing is a huge rose shortage. As our business gets back on track and it looks like some weddings & events are coming back, please understand that in the next 3-4 weeks we are going to continue to look at an incredible shortage of roses so you will need to work with lots of other flowers.
