Fernwood Cemetery

I used to think it sad, the idea of visiting a cemetery, but now at Fernwood, I see small groups gathering across the meadows and hillsides, sometimes laughing, picnicking, and enjoying the day. Often with a dog, strolling through the eucalyptus. It doesn’t mean cemeteries are a happy place, but it is good to see some, moving through their loss and finding a little joy. Our Great Blue Heron friend is back today. As emotional as a funeral services can be , we found time to stop the procession and enjoy this bit of nature hunting in the Ancestral Forest, while walking up to graveside.
