These are convergent lady beetles, also known as lady bugs. They mostly eat aphids. The black insects with the reds spots in this photo are the lady beetle larval stage, when they are the most veracious. They are working in our garden today. The black spots are all aphids. #biologicalcontrol #ipm #integratedpestmanagement #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativefarming

Spring is in the air here in California! Pruning is well underway and the colors and textures in the landscape seem amplified by the rains. The hillsides have turned electric green, daffodils and mustard blanket the valley floor in brilliant yellow, and the native grasses have re-emerged in our vineyards. It is a familiar yet invigorating time and something we look forward to every year. JUST LIKE OUR ROSÉ!!! ... We hope the 2020 Rosé brings joy, pleasure, and levity to you in 2021! We harvest the fruit when it is high-toned, crisp, and refreshing. With zesty citrus and a light, clean, slightly salty finish, the Matthiasson Rosé heralds springtime. The 2020 vintage is the same traditional blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Counoise from organically farmed vineyards. Link in Bio.
Planted some heirloom plum trees into the home vineyard today, perfect timing ahead of the rains. In three or four years we should be able to taste the first juicy plums. Hopefully the trees will last until grandkids can climb up in them. Plenty of earthworms in the soil, good sign for the trees to grow new roots and take off. @felixgilletinstitute @ Matthiasson Vineyard
A moment of Zen...just listen to this peaceful cacophony...wonder what the birds are saying to each other, maybe they’re partying, drunk on juicy bugs...
