Earthshine A celestial conjunction pairs the crescent moon and Jupiter above the rugged profile of California’s Mount Whitney in the Sierra Nevada in this time lapse video by @babaktafreshi. Reaching an altitude of 14,505 feet(4,421 meters) It is the highest summit in the contiguous US. Note the Galilean moons of Jupiter are visible even with a telephoto lens. The dark side of the moon is gently lit by earth. That’s why it’s called earthshine ( or the Da Vinci glow) @natgeo
