Marina Landscape 07.06.2021

Coinciding with Construction Safety Week, we would like to announce that Marina Landscape will be receiving two awards in recognition of safety! The Southern California Contractors Association (SCCA) Safety Committee acknowledges member companies with exceptional safety practices that are implemented throughout the year. On May 12th, the SCCA will be hosting its 25th annual Safety Awards banquet at The Phoenix Club in Anaheim, California. This event showcases the importance o...f safety, the efforts made to keep employees safe, and the industry wide distinction of these achievements. The SCCA Safety Committee received an overwhelming number of applications and determined the winners. This year, Marina Landscape will be presented with the coveted Albert H. Atwood Safety Achievement Award. This top accolade will be received by the crew of State Route 60 due to a collection of factors making a substantial contribution in the safety and accident prevention area. In addition to winning the leading award, Marina Landscape will also receive the Most Improved Ex-Mod Award. This new award is appointed to companies based on the 2020 and 2019 ratings calculated under the California Workers’ Compensation Experience Rating Plan. Based on improved experience modification ratings in the last year, Marina Landscape effectively had the largest turnaround. Safety has and always will be a priority for Marina Landscape. We are very grateful to be able to experience this distinguishing moment. Congratulations to all award winners and we wish the SCCA a very successful event.

Since 2014, national and global construction firms have participated in this annual, industry-wide initiative designed to celebrate and promote a continued commitment to safety. Construction Safety Week reveals the opportunity for companies across the spectrum of construction services to come together and inspire everyone to be leaders in safety. Safety Week 2021 will take place May 3-7, and the theme this year is Committed to Holistic Safety. The commitment to staying safe a...nd focused on the job is a point of pride and strength that runs across the entire construction industry. Important roles in the wellbeing of workers in the industry is both physical and mental safety in the workplace. This year, construction leaders joined together to provide resources and education that will further drive a collective commitment to holistic safety. The industry’s culture of safety has expanded to include mental health with the goal of reducing factors that increase risks on the job. #ConstructionSafetyWeek See more

During these trying times we are currently in, it is more important than ever for us (that are able) to help our communities and those in need. This is a call to action to inspire all who are able to contribute in any way, shape, or form possible. The International Day of Charity for this year lands last September 5, 2020. To commemorate this day Marina team chose to give back to the community and support charities close to our hearts. #charity #community #help #givingback #volunteering #team # #giveback

ONE OF THE AMAZING COMMUNITY SERVICE projects we did this spring was a refurbishment of the landscape surrounding a safe home for women that is affiliated with the Orange County-based nonprofit, WISEPlace. Leading the effort to end homelessness for unaccompanied women, WISEPlace (Women, Inspired, Supported, Empowered) provides women with safe transitional and emergency shelter, counseling and mental health services, case management andaddiction recovery, and employment assist...ance to help rebuild their lives. According to their website, this community of hope and housing has served over 8,100 women to ensure they don’t face adversity alone. If you would like to further Marina’s contribution to WISEPlace by donating or volunteering, please contact them through email at [email protected] for more information. There is no doubt that Marina will continue working to support this special organization through future community service projects. #wiseplace

This month, we celebrate National Grilling Month! Summer is upon us, and you know what that means?! Many good times to be had with friends and family will give way to the best month for outdoor cooking. We at Marina Landscape enjoy a good family barbecue! In honor of National Grilling Month, we want to share this VERY easy recipe! Easy Grilled Pork Chops... Courtesy of Sunny Anderson Ingredients: 1/4 cup honey 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 1 teaspoon ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes Eight 1/2-inch bone-in pork chops (about 3 ounces each) Salt and freshly ground black pepper Directions: 1. Begin by making the marinade. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, oil, vinegar, cumin, and red pepper flakes. 2. Sprinkle both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper and place in a re-sealable plastic bag with the marinade. Let rest on the counter for 1 hour. 3. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Remove the pork chops from the bag and lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place on the grill and cook until the pork chop releases from the grill, about 4 minutes. Flip and cook on the other side for another 3 minutes. If using a grill pan, be sure to do in batches so you don't steam the chops. If you have neither; you can do this in a pan. EASY!
