"What motivates you?" This is my favorite question to ask clients because once someone can pinpoint a single thing that motivates them (losing weight, improving health to live a longer/happier life, being a role model for your kids/siblings, or whatever it may be) and they constantly remind themselves of this reason, that is when they will find success. Most of us are guilty of finding a short lived bit of motivation to reach our goals. This short burst of motivation usually ...results in committing to a workout routine and a diet plan for maybe a week or two, only to end up right back where you started. If you're anything like me, then this would mean you find yourself back at home eating pizza and pretending like the gym doesn't exist. In order to maintain your motivation, you must maintain a positive outlook on what you're doing and remember why you're doing it. Make a real commitment to health and fitness and the next time you decide to grab an XL pizza and sit on the couch to watch TV, rather than going to the gym and making healthier eating choices, ask yourself this: "What's my motivation?" DIET TIP ALERT! Have you heard of the keto diet? This is something that has been taking the internet by storm lately; however, it has been around a lot longer than most people might think. I researched this diet for a few weeks before deciding to try it myself. It didn't make any sense to me that I could eat more fat and less fruit/other carbs and lose weight. Not only does this diet promise weight loss, but it also promises improvements in health. A few of the health benefit...s include decreasing BMI, reducing cholesterol levels, reversing diabetes, treating epilepsy and autism, and providing you with much more natural energy throughout the day. I had to try it once I found out all this information, even though I don't necessarily need to lose weight, have any cholesterol problems, or mental health issues. I was simply interested in a leaner body and increased energy levels. I have been doing this diet for 8 days now and I weighed myself the night before I started and each day since. I am happy to say that in 8 days I have lost a pound each and every day, totalling 8 pounds! Not only did I lose the weight, but I noticed my belly looking much more lean and I feel great physically! Funny part is that I literally ate a quarter stick of salted butter PLAIN (sounds gross, I know) to help meet my fat intake goal early on in the diet! I've since learned ways around that, thankfully.
