I Love/Aerial because it gives me something to look forward to every week and take my mind off from lab. As a graduate student, I am constantly worrying about my experiments: if I included the proper controls, why doesn't my data make sense, what statistical analysis do I do , and the list goes on. Fortunately when I am doing aerial, all these worries disappear as I concentrate on not falling from the silk too high off the ground or not getting stuck in the silk too high up in the air. The opportunity to take a break and forget about my lab problems has been so helpful; it's been practically priceless. I also Love/Aerial because it provides me with a sense of accomplishment. It's surreal and incredible to see how far I have come since my first aerial class. As a couch potato, I never imagined I would find an exercise activity I enjoy so much. Even though it's only once a week for an hour, I feel healthier physically and mentally since I started doing and loving aerial. Plus, it's a bonus to say I do aerial silks when I need to share a fun fact about myself! See more

And I feel more grace and elegance and strength when I’m a few feet up the air than I do when I’m on the ground. Even when I’m all tangled up learning something new. I’m physically stronger and more aware and in control of my body since beginning my aerial journey than I have been my whole life, and I know I’m only just scratching the surface of what I hope to be able to accomplish.
