Books and More

Who loves the lemon bars from Bangor Bakery? Those things are sooo good! We've sold out a couple of times now, just have to decide the right amount each week, or...we could do what they do and sell at half price Saturday afternoon. Any comment? The apple pie was great too, and the chocolate chip cookies, and the fudge. I'm not sure if they make anything that is not delicious! We ordered some bread for a customer last week so let us know by Friday or Saturday for the Wednesday ahead and we'll do the same for you. Love having their goodies in Brownsville!

What is your opinion, the five books you have read that made the biggest impression on you? I'll have to think about mine for a minute.

We had such a good day today! Thank you everyone who helped make it that way. We sold sweets, books, beautiful items on consignment, we received a wonderful donation that included the '100 books everyone should read', I know we could have a good discussion on that! Just an all around good day. Love it when that happens.

I guess I got behind, as you know if you've been in the store, we are busy, busy, busy! Yes, the expansion is complete, but now all our new projects must begin. For instance, we are now an outlet for Bangor Bake Shoppe. For those of you not familiar they use only natural ingredients, like flour, sugar, spices etc. and turn out some of the most wonderful sweets around. We are still trying to decide each week which types of sweets our customers will be coming in for! So many ...amazing treats to choose from! We are also able to take your orders and have them delivered for you to pick up at Books and More! Just one of our newest projects, I'll try keep up a little better and let everyone know what else is going on. So come in and buy a lemon bar or some chocolate chip cookies and let us know what you like. We have Olsons coffee too, so you're set, a good book, a sweet treat, and a good cup of coffee all waiting for you at Books and More.

Our big day is finally here, tomorrow, Saturday May 27, 2017, will be our Open House! The new and improved Books and More is in order and ready for everyone to look it over! We will have food and drinks, great deals, and door prizes for those who are interested! Of course, along with all of these things we have a most beautiful, delightful, wonderful BOOKS STORE waiting for your perusal. Don't forget we have added a room full of items on consignment, antiques, clothi...ng, crafts and baked goods. The Mercantile will be having some local vendors as well so all in all a busy weekend in Brownsville! Hope we see many of you there! See more

To all our bookstore friends out there, and the friends of friends, we would like to suggest an idea to all of you. One of our goals is to help our community connect to each other. This particular idea is to connect people with a certain skill to someone who is in need of that skill. It could be carpentry, cleaning, yard work, child care, plumbing, the list is endless. So, think about it and if you are interested show up on Saturday and find me or call Wednesday-Saturday and we will start a notebook with everyone's talent, availability, price per hour, etc. Not just physical work either, who can bake and decorate a cake beautifully, or photograph a wedding or party. Let us know and we'll start a notebook and see what happens!

Everyone has worked so hard this week,I figured I'd just show everyone what's been going on. We are close to completion

This is Tania with an update- the store is coming together a little bit more every day. I brought filler for the new flower barrels which will line the front porch, picked up the plywood for the new sign which will be out by the road, got the paint for the accent wall in the new lobby, moved boxes and boxes of books into the new Fiction space, all the while taking care of customers whom without we are just a building filled (FILLED!) with books. The books, on a side note, seem to be multiplying every time we look away from them. If you haven't come by yet to see the store in process, drop on in to the work zone... but if you stay in one place too long we might put you to work.

What is everyone reading? I get to read the third Fredrick Backman, 'Britt-Marie was here'. So far so good!

Not to sure what to focus on today, there is so much going on. The mystery room got done thanks to many people helping, some who worked a little too hard! Now we are having to do a little bit here and there. When the new door gets in, watch out! We will all be moving things, books, boxes, new items for sale (we're still working on that) we have shelves to move, shelves to put up, lots of excitement. If you get a chance stop in to see what's going on and maybe give your opinion on some of the new ideas. We want to thank everyone who has 'liked ' our FB page also. Just for clarification, we will NOT be closing the store during this expansion. It will be business as usual, just a little messier.
