August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day. International Overdose Awareness Day, started by the Salvation Army in Australia in 2001, is an opportunity for people around the world to publicly mourn loved ones without guilt or shame. Many participating countries also use this day to send a strong message to current and former drug users that their lives are valued and that no one should ever die from a preventable fatal drug overdose. We are collecting photos of a loved... one lost to substance use and overdose for our Tree of Remembrance. Please submit a picture and name to me here or on our Moms United facebook page, so we can honor and remember them. We will be doing a facebook live interview with moms who have lost a child to overdose tomorrow at 11am PT, and we will be holding a candlelight vigil on Monday evening, Aug. 31 at 7pm PT, which will be live streamed on facebook.
