Magnolia School District is proud to announce that we have been awarded a 2020 Golden Bell Award for our Summer STEM Academy Jump Start Program for students in ...3rd Grade . This program was envisioned by Magnolia’s Superintendent Dr. Frank Donavan in 2016. The Summer STEM Academy provides incoming third-grade students with four weeks of high-quality academic instruction and hands-on learning in engaging STEM instruction and activities. Students learn about science concepts and how they impact everyday life through high-interest units of study. The lessons also integrate a range of technology skills. District data and observation have shown that this unique summer program has had a great impact on third-grade students, including higher levels of academic achievement and high levels of motivation and enthusiasm for learning.
Due to the air quality, Food Services will be distributing meals at our regular time today. Supper is also available. https://www.magnoliasd.org/menus/
On behalf of the Magnolia School District, Dr. Frank Donavan thanked Orange County 4th District Supervisor, Doug Chaffee for his generous support. During this c...hallenging time we are doing everything we can to make sure our students have what they need to access their education via a virtual format. Thanks to Mr. Chaffee, we will be able to ensure that every one of our students have their own Chromebook, wifi hotspot and Internet connectivity. With nearly 6,000 students in our district this is no easy task. We greatly appreciate your leadership and assistance. See more

If this date is extended we will contact you immediately. We are working closely with multiple agencies including the California Department of Education, Orange County Department of Education, and the Orange County Health Care Agency to do everything we can to keep our students, staff and community safe. Our schools and district office will not be open to the public during this time; however, parents can pick-up or drop off necessary materials and information during each school's designated hours or between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM at the district office. Out of an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of all of our students, all Magnolia School District Schools will be closed from Monday, March 16 t...o Friday, March 27. During this time, the well-being of our students will continue to be our highest priority. We have actively been working on home learning resources and other student needs. Home learning materials were sent home with students and are posted on our District web page at Magnoliasd.org. We will continue to post updates and additional resources as they are developed. Student meals will also be provided . We will continue to communicate with families and the community via phone and our website during the closure. Thank you to all MSD families and staff for their support and flexibility during this time. We all continue to work together to care for our students and the community.
Lord Baden-Powell Elementary students continue to inspire kindness around their community. This year student council members, with the leadership of Mrs. Katri...na Barkley and Mrs. Stacy Bugaren, made lasting connections with some of the residents of Brookdale Senior Living in Anaheim. Mrs. Barkley worked as our liaison to Brookdale, arranging visits and coordinating students and staff. Mrs. Bugaren managed the Student Council students to support visits to BP and arranged special projects that were delivered to Brookdale. Their collaborative work is the backbone of this partnership. With their help, students have been able to visit the residents at their home and the residents have also been able to come to visit the students at school. The students have learned and grown through their interactions with some of these amazing individuals who shared their life experiences with the students. In one of their first visits, the seniors were invited to watch the Halloween Parade at Lord Baden-Powell. According to 6th Grader Diego, the students had a blast walking around in their costumes. Student Council created a giant poster that was signed by all the students and presented to the seniors who proudly hung it in their home. On Veterans Day the students visited Brookdale and spoke with all the residents. 6th grader Sadeem spoke with a WWII veteran. Since she was deaf, her daughter interpreted for them and Sadeem learned that she worked in an airplane factory and her husband was also in the war and that’s how they met. Emma learned that her new friend was a seamstress and also talked about her favorite movie, Gone with the Wind See full article at https://www.magnoliasd.org/apps/news/article/1181059
