Escaped the California heat and wildfire smoke with a fishing trip through Idaho and Montana. Hungry Browns, Rainbows, Whitefish and Lamar Valley Yellowstone ...Cutthroats were eager to chase our hoppers. Highlights of the trip: 1)plenty of fish in beautiful waters, especially if you hike a couple miles or more into into the back country. 2) plenty of wildlife watching us fish. 3) Getting stalked and then chased out of a great Madison River fishing run by a huge YNP male moose! Downsides of the trip: 1) The drive home, continuous smoke and ash from West Yellowstone to So Cal. 2) Driving past, not fishing great fishing spots because of the smoke and ash! 3) Getting stalked and chased by a huge YNP male moose for a mile - while wearing waders, boots, backpacks and carrying rods! A Heart pounding session!
