Meet our newest Loma Team Member, Michael Bayer! Mike comes to us as a consultant, serving as External General Counsel. He's an experienced producer and general counsel, bringing a broad range of entertainment industry expertise and relationships to enhance client opportunities across all platforms. He has collaborated with Loma principal John DeBello on many projects including independent feature films, television programs, major merchandising deals and national campaigns. M...ike most recently served as General Counsel & EVP of Business and Legal Affairs at Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, where he oversaw all corporate matters and worked on artist deals with Billie Eilish, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Brad Paisley, Eric Clapton and the estates of Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison and Kurt Cobain. Prior to Fender, he was General Counsel & EVP of Business and Legal Affairs at Miramax, where he oversaw all business and legal aspects of film and television acquisitions, distribution, development, production, rights management, merchandising, licensing, music, delivery and marketing. His work included new productions as well as managing the deep library (Pulp Fiction, The English Patient, Chicago, Kill Bill). His impressive experience includes similar roles at Saban Brands and Image/RLJ Entertainment following a stint at Paramount Home Entertainment. Mike is a graduate of Duke University and the University of North Carolina School of Law. Fun fact: An avid mountaineer, he’s an active member of The Highpointers Association, having climbed the highest peak in 49 of the 50 states. (He has one to go and is saving the best for last.) Congratulations to the National Science Foundation (NSF) on the success of Convergence Accelerator EXPO 2020, a groundbreaking virtual event that introduced 41 new concepts and technologies designed to benefit all Americans. Integrating multidisciplinary research, human-centered design and team science, the revolutionary Convergence Accelerator is a first in government. EXPO 2020 allowed attendees from 25 countries to engage directly with each team through a Loma-produced customized solution, helping speed NSF Big Ideas from basic research toward impactful problem-solving.

The entire Loma team gives a shout out to UC San Diego, which has formally joined the Big West Conference as part of its transition to Division I athletics. We're proud to have contributed by producing the national feasibility study that helped launch the visionary move, while also supporting the ascendant athletic program’s recruiting, cross-campus and community engagement initiatives. DI reclassification underscores the university’s continued commitment to upholding its high standards of academic and athletic achievement doing it the right way competing, and ultimately winning, on the national stage.
