Fuya Persimmons, right in time for the holidays! 2/$1 These are the crisp "apple" variety. Less acidic than the plummy kind. But I like to leave mine on the counter until they get soft and "plum-like" so I can use them in my cookie recipes. Here a link to a pie that uses these fuya persimmons beautifully. Give it a try and let us know what you think.... https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/268441/fuyu-persimmon-pie/#

Surprise! We're also putting out some of the Hachiya Persimmons. These are the tart and plummy variety. Let them sit at room temperature until soft, squishy, or even very squishy. Some say the squishier the better (like bananas). These make great persimmon butter or persimmon pudding. If you haven't had a persimmon before, both hachiya and fuyu varieties are like a cross between apricots and honey. They go beautifully with holiday spices. ... Here's a link to a cookie recipe that uses hachiya persimmons. Enjoy! https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/6964/persimmon-bread-ii/

Mexicola fest! Mexicola avocados for the weekend. If you haven't tried them before, now is a great time before the season ends. These are the little black "lunchbox" avocados with thin skin you can actually eat, kinda like an apple (that's where we get the "lunchbox nickname). But excellent peeled, too. Personally, I usually peel mine. We're asking $1 for 3, but as always, whatever you pay goes to His Provision Ministry to feed struggling neighbors and help them get back on ...their feet. Hope to see you here!

The Mexicola avocados are at their peak right now. Looks like I'll be able to set them out all week. Message me if you'd like me to set some aside for you.

A neighbor helped me put out fresh peaches and mexicola avocados (the ones with the thin skin you can eat). A little surprise treat for the weekend.

The good news: The city's construction work is now complete and access is now easier to the produce table. The bad news: I was in an accident that is greatly limiting my access to the garden. The good news: I'm slowly getting better. The bad news: Very, very limited produce being set out, probably for the rest of the year.... A very disappointing summer, I'm afraid. But we'll hope for much, much better next year!

Things have been very quiet around the farm this year. The city of Rancho Cucamonga has been doing upgrades on our street -- adding sidewalks, improving curbs and driveways. So exciting! But so much construction going on that it's hard to access our property. So we haven't been setting out any produce for the time being. We'll send out a post when things settle down and we're back in business. In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful weather! Blessings!

Do you know about loofahs? Sometimes spelled luffas or loofas. Great for bathing or general cleaning, you typically find them in natural markets like Whole Foods or Sprouts. We grew some last year and are setting a few out on the produce table.... GREW them?? Yes, if you didn't know, they are dried gourds! : ) They get soft in warm water and feel like a "scrubby," but they're natural. Luffas are gentle on the skin and great in the shower or bath. They stimulate circulation and are perfect for gentle exfoliation. Some people use them for arthritis pain and muscle pain. They are often used for cleaning dishes in the kitchen. It's mildly abrasive but the natural fibers won't scratch nonstick pots and pans. They are airy, lightweight, and durable, so are great for a variety of uses. Heads up: best not to rub them on anything glossy like your car. Take care of your natural loofah the same as you would any other sponge and it can last for months: After using it and while it's still damp, microwave it for about 20 seconds to keep any bacteria from accumulating. Let it air dry. Once a week or so, soak it for 5 minutes in a very mild bleach solution (about 1 part bleach to 20 parts water). You'll often see these selling for about $3, but we're asking for a donation of $1 per medium size or $1 per 2 small size. As always, your donation goes to help support His Provision Ministry, which helps feed neighbors in need. We'll only set out a few at a time, so if you want to be sure to get some, please message me privately (see the blue box in the upper right of this page) and I'll set some out just for you.

Home grown grapefruit and aloe vera, along with baby spinach, green onions, and even some turnip greens and baby artichokes. Enjoy!
