May is Mental Health Awareness month. The more we openly discuss mental health, the more we may dispel myths and shame that often surround the topic.

You’re only as sick as the secrets you keep. Holding onto secrets fosters shame. It’s a self imposed prison. When someone tells me I’ve never told this to anyone, I know they’re getting ready to experience freedom. Expressing feelings loosens the grip of shame and gives you back your power.
