Discovering our identity can be a lifelong process. Today, as we start our new sermon series in the book of Philippians, we look at Philippians 1:1-2. In these verses we get a glimpse of what our identity is in Jesus. We hope you join us! To watch today's service, go to www.lincolnglen.org/live-jesus or www.youtube.com/lincolnglenchurch
Starting this month, the Joni and Friends Bay Area office is collecting Valentine Love Notes from various churches and schools, which will then be mailed to each family we serve. This season of COVID-19 has provided for many challenges for families living with disability and we want to remind each of them of the love of God and His church. Your personalized Valentines bring joy into the life of a friend affected by disability. 1) Buy pre-written Valentines or write your own!... 2) Personalize your Valentines by signing each one and include a Bible verse or a word of encouragement. 2) If you wish, attach a small gift, but no candy please. 3) No unopened or unsigned Valentines. Take photos with your Valentines to grow families' excitement and email them to [email protected]. Please mail or drop off Valentines to the address below by February 3rd: Lincoln Glen Church 2700 Booksin Avenue San Jose, CA 95125 Feel free to write as many love notes as you want! There is no such thing as too much love

We are delaying our new sermon series going through the book of Philippians by one week and instead we will be talking about how we respond as Christians to everything going on around us right now. We hope you join us. To watch today’s service, go to www.lincolnglen.org/live-jesus
We saw some very disheartening scenes at our nation’s Capitol building yesterday. Our country needs a lot of prayer. What led to the events yesterday did not happen overnight but reveal the condition of people’s hearts. There are no simple solutions but we are seeing that sin has such a powerful grip over human hearts. It is a reminder that our country very much needs prayer. Ephesians 4:26 says, In your anger do not sin. What we saw yesterday was both anger and sin. ... As people of Jesus our response should look different. Different than what we saw happen yesterday. And even different from how others are responding to the events of yesterday. As people of Jesus we do not belong to the Left or the Right but above. As people of Jesus we do not align with a donkey or an elephant but with the Lamb. So how do we respond as Christians? Pray. Be a light. Do not bear false witness. Do not make for yourself an idol. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says pray without ceasing. So pray for our country. Matthew 5:14 says that we as believers are the light of the world. It is a dark time in our country. So let us shine our light brightly in the darkness. Exodus 20:16 tells us to speak the truth. As you talk about the events that happened make sure you speak the truth. This includes not sharing information that is false, not sharing things you heard but have not verified and not speaking what you want to be true but is not true. As Christians we must be committed to what is true. When we speak things that aren’t true we dishonor God and we hurt our witness to others. If others cannot trust us to speak the truth when it comes to the events of today why would they trust us to speak truth about the events of Jesus over 2,000 years ago? Exodus 20:3 says we shall have no other gods before God. Few will admit it but politics has become an idol for so many. Idolatry happens when we give something in our lives a higher place than Jesus. Do not allow politics to have that place in your life. When it does we end up making Jesus fit into our politics agenda. Jesus does not fit into any political agenda. Just because He does not fit into the agenda of the political party that you do not like does not mean He fits in well in yours. Put Jesus first. Make your political views match what Jesus says. Do not try to make Him match yours. You end up with a powerless Jesus made in your own image and that is idolatry. So let us pray. Let us be lights. Let us not bear false witness. Let us not make any idols for ourselves. Let us show Jesus to a country that is very much in need. And let us pray for our country!

We are called to love my neighbor but who is our neighbor? What does it mean to be a neighbor during a pandemic? Join us as we explore this together!
Out of love for one another and great concern for everyone's safety we have taken an incredibly cautious approach to gathering together in person during this pandemic. As we continue to navigate through this pandemic we will maintain a cautious approach while trying to safely do what we can do. Recently, Santa Clara County changed the restrictions for churches gathering together in person. In light of that we want to see how all of you feel about the possibility of meeting in... person. It will be incredibly helpful to us if you could take a few moments and fill out a brief survey in the next week. This will help us make the most informed decision going forward about when will be the right time to start up in person worship services. We know that whenever we do start up in person worship services many people will not be ready to join us yet. We respect and understand that! When we do start an in person worship service we will continue to provide an online worship service for those not ready to attend in person. To give you an idea of what the worship service could look like here are some of the main county rules for in person church gatherings. OUTDOOR Worship Services: 200 person limit // Masks are are required for everyone (over the age of 2) // Singing is allowed (everyone must keep their masks on while singing-even the entire worship band) // Live preaching (no mask required for preacher) // Social distancing between households // Mandatory sign in // Hand sanitizer will be available INDOOR Worship Services: 100 person limit // Masks are are required for everyone (over the age of 2) // Singing is not allowed // Live preaching (no mask required for preacher) // Social distancing between households // Mandatory sign in // Hand sanitizer will be available to fill out the regathering survey, go to: https://forms.gle/zRFYCC7r4iGDNX579 or www.lincolnglen.org
