LIFT west hollywood March 14, 2015 This email announces our closure. ... It has been a wild ride from day one and has continued to be so for 12 years until yesterday, our very last day. I received notice from our landlord that he would not be continuing our lease arrangement -- a month to month arrangement since 2009. I bought this gym on a lark having reached nearly 2 decades of corporate burnout. I was reborn and never looked back. The gym was more than just a business for me...it was our community; it was my family. And it is with this tender love that I take some time to take stock, tinker, evolve and transition. I feel like a proud mama who has nurtured world-class trainers; a humbled proprietor to have served an esteemed clientele and a solid manager that fostered a fiercely loyal staff. I thank you for that opportunity given me. I am excited about the future possibilities made possible by this substantial foundation we all built together. I remain committed, as one is forever tied to one's family and community, to remain in the fitness business in West Hollywood in one manifestation or another. Additionally, I will continue my active engagement with the city, the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Visit West Hollywood as I am privileged to be serving these organizations as a resident and business owner. The accounting of refunds due and tallying receivables and payables has been started and all transactions will be honored. Specific account-level communications will go out next week. My aim is to ensure that each and every LIFTer feels that they were done right during their time at the gym and especially done right--after. So stay fit. Stay strong. Fitness never ends. Look red carpet ready by making sure you work your shoulders. Isolate your front delts by raising a barbell in front of you. For a more advanced move, set an adjustable bench to a 45-degree angle and lie down with your chest against it and a barbell on the floor in front of you. Grasp the bar overhand at shoulder width and raise it to shoulder level, using only your delts. Don’t let your back arch.

Say YES to Love but NO to Love Handles! Get rid of this excess abdominal fat by doing burpees. Burpees are a combination cardio/strengthening exercise. This exercise targets the triceps, shoulders, upper back, abdominals and legs. Therefore, this is considered a full-body exercise and can be very beneficial to tone up all over. The more you focus on proper form and technique, the more your muscles will benefit from this exercise. Do 10-20 repetitions and 3 sets. One of our many success stories is Emelyn Nazarian. An echo sonographer at Cedars (what's that...she performs heart ultrasound testing!), she decided a year ago that it was time to trim down and get in shape. She met her brother's trainer, Amir Madadi, and started training with him thrice weekly. She is proud to say that she has since lost 60 lbs and 5 dress sizes! That's what sticking to it accomplishes! Emelyn says "Amir pushes me every session and never lets me give up and for that I'm grateful. I feel great and he has helped me change my life for the better. I wouldn't have gotten these results without him." Emelyn also adds that she loves the welcoming atmosphere of the gym and all the friends she's made. Her fave move: Ninja Jump Squats on the Bosu (go girl!) Least fave: Plyometric Box Jumps (so good for the glutes tho!)
