Anyone else say Happy New year 3 hours before Midnight? Literally (well minus the amazing hair I have in this pic) this is how Brad and I start every new year. In bed before Midnight. And last night we would have been asleep 30 min earlier but two of our favorite people FaceTimed us. And something I am loving about what 2020 has brought us in incredible closeness in our friendships. Have you noticed this?... Yesterday, while driving home we had more calls to wish us a happy New Years, then while we were unpacking we stopped for a few FaceTimes and a text. Then our neighbors met us outside for a social distanced happy new year toast. And then when I thought the night was over (while it was still young). One more. What we focus on grows. In 2020 not everything I wanted happened. But, that’s the case for every year. However, one of the things I wanted was to have deeper meaningful friendships. And, to get that it meant being more intentional. You have to put out what you want in the world. Now, don’t get me wrong, not everyone in my life wanted that in 2020. And that is ok. Today is the start of a new year. But, all the things you wrote down that you want will only happen if you make the time and space for them. And if you take the steps. Today is the first day I won’t have Pilates in my day in 21 days. This month I decided I was going to do Pilates everyday I wasn’t on the road. I knew I wouldn’t have access to my studio, or any studio for that matter and I knew I wouldn’t feel 100% without the time I need to connect to myself. To give to myself. Here’s how I did it: 1. I let my peeps know I had to do my Pilates every day and how long it would take.... 2. The night before I would make sure I had created enough space in my day to hit my mat. 3. I didn’t have any other goal but to do my mat. AKA wasn’t trying to perfect or get anything. Just flow. Did I feel guilty for not being with my family I don’t see all year long? Some days. Especially the days that I had more going on and that meant I wouldn’t see them 30 min more. But, like I say to you all the time. You cannot do life better, you cannot give more to others if you don’t first give yourself 100%. If you don’t first connect to YOU. Each day my body felt different, my mind was in a different place. And after each practice my mind and body were aligned AND I was in a better place. I had more energy, more joy, more power. In 4 days we will be doing our #withme challenge. This is a consistency challenge to help you find the Pilates routine that works for You. That allows you to consistently give % to yourself first so you can do more for those you love and care about guilt and resentment free. This 4 week challenge starts Sunday the 3rd. Myself and then entire #withme community will be there to support you. Almost time!!!! And no i’m not counting down until 2021. I’m counting down to Jan 3rd because it’s the day we kick off the challenge that will have you practicing giving 100% to you so you can do your life better. It was always easy for me to make sure what made me fuel up was in my schedule.... I used to get frustrated, cry, be exhausted trying to do everything for everyone. But in the end I was tired and resentful. And it wasn’t anyone else’s fault but mine. When I discovered Pilates I fell in love with it in that first . I really did. And I changed my entire work schedule to go to Pilates everyday! I know you want to have more tome for you. More energy to do the things you love and be there for those you adore. And that’s why i’m kicking off 2021 with a consistency challenge! It starts in 5 days and it’s 4 weeks of Pilates, accountability and community. Do Monday’s feel like a race to the finish? I used to try and pack in SOOO much on a Monday. I mean, its the beginning of the week and it feels like you gotta hit the ground running? No, just me? Where my type A friends at?!?!... But, I realized after too long that my Fridays were pretty empty. And while I tried to say I loved how light my Fridays were the truth is I didn’t love it as much as how busy my Mondays were. So, I made some changes. 1. I looked at what wasn’t getting done on Mondays that I lamented about and decided whether or not it had to be done on Mondays at all. 2. I stacked my morning with things that fueled me aka my run (now I walk) Pilates and a breakfast that made me smile. 3. Once I determined what HAD to be done on Mondays I took there rest of my weekly tasks and found them slots in my week. 4. I made sure that no matter what each day had ME scheduled in it. My Fridays are actually still lighter but when I get to them I’m not so exhausted I can’t enjoy them. And my Mondays feel more fun! Aka no more Sunday Night Blue’s. Elder Millennial here...I really never left the 90’s. Fun fact about me! I want to hear some fun facts about you mustard yellow in any clothing I am a yes or yes! I love when friends randomly call me. Or send me dumb memes. Because random bursts of laughter are a daily necessity. flannel. I’ll take any old flannel over a cardigan everyday day.... funky ones are the best! I love to wear them with fancy dresses because after 12+ years of teaching and this time in Covid my days are over. I’ve got 3: Gaia is 11ish Bayon is almost 5 and August is just over a year. And they all have their own personalities and know who gives them the treats. married Brad 5 years ago and we’ve been working full time together 1 year. Yep, you read that right live and work together in our home with 3 dogs! I miss traveling to meet people. I miss teaching retreats. I miss hanging out and catching up on work in airports. obsessed with boom chicka pop and heathy evel sweet pop corn! It doesn’t survive long in my house. are the BEST! I do Pilates almost 6-7days a week. Peloton and Trampoline for the rate and long dog walks to get fresh air. I don’t own one because I don’t love driving. But someday I’ll have sprinter van and/or g wagon and I know that’ll make driving way more fun! Hmmm what else do you want to know? I can’t wait to hear from you and learn your fun facts!
