It’s a beautiful evening here at Hamel! Maybe that’s why my guests are not coming out. Or maybe they are just loving the delicious wines.
I had the opportunity to taste at DaVero this week and what a blast. It was so interesting to tour their little biodynamic farm and I loved their wine making style. They focus on Italian varietals and had a few I’d never hear of. We also got to taste delicious olive oil from their olive grove and a cheese plate with some smoked duck that went perfectly with the wines and was so yummy. What a fun time! I can’t wait to take you there!
These are some delicious Zinfandel grapes on vines planted in 1882! Oh if the vines could talk, I bet they’d have some grape stories. If you hurry we can make sure you get to taste some wine grapes, before they’re made into wine. Harvest is an amazing time to visit.
It’s a beautiful day in Wine Country!
Hi everyone, it’s been so long since you’ve heard from me. Here’s what’s happening in the vineyards now. Veraison! Yay! That means we’re getting closer to harvest. In viticulture, veraison is the onset of ripening. The term is originally French, but has been adopted into English use. The official definition of veraison is "change of color of the grape berries".
This is a wine lovers event for sure! I still have some availability! Call today to book your tour. March 6-8 & March 13-15 https://www.wineroad.com/events/barrel-tasting-weekends/
A guest asked me last month, What is the best time to visit Wine Country? Boy that’s a hard question to answer because all of our seasons are pretty spectacular. It really depends on what you enjoy. The views are always amazing: during the Summer the grapes are hanging heavy and you’ll get a chance to taste the sweetness, the Harvest time is great for intoxicating aromas and a look into how wine is made, Autumn brings us fall colors that will blow your mind, Winter has very few visitors so you can get a special personalized experience, but Spring is mustard season and it’s a spectacular show of yellow flowers that will brighten anyone’s day. Here is a sample of what’s to come in the next month. What’s your favorite season in Wine Country?
This a fun event! If you have never tasted wine straight out of the barrel this is the time to do it. And they sell "Futures", at a discounted price, which is the wine you are tasting at the time. They will ship it to you when it gets bottled. At this point I'm still available if you need a great driver. And, if you like, I'll help you pick which wineries you want to visit. https://www.wineroad.com/events/barrel-tasting-weekends/
Not only is the wine experience fun, delicious and educational, you can stay in this sweet little farm house and picnic out back. What’s not to love? And if you’re a carignan fan this is definitely the place for you!
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Some say winter is the best time to visit Wine Country because there are no crowds. I tend to agree. Although there really never is a bad time to go wine tasting.
A huge Welcome Back! To one of the hardest hit wineries during the 2017 Sonoma Fire.
If you’re ever tired of playing bocce, come to MacLaren for a game of shuffle board and some mighty fine Syrah.
What a spectacular spot to do a tasting. Super friendly people, great wine, chill vibe, what’s not to love. Think you’re a good golfer? Three chances to win a bottle of wine with a hole in one. Play a little bocce have a little lunch give yourself some time here.
Hello Everyone! Just wanted to let you know most of Sonoma and Napa have power now and are out of fire danger. The strong winds are gone and took the smoke with them. The weather will be lovely in the mid 70’s throughout the weekend and many wineries are Open For Business! Please support family owned and local businesses when they regain power. A few days of no sales can be detrimental in the small business world. I’m sorry to those that had to cancel your plans during uncertain times, I sure hope to see you back sometime soon.
