A huge thank you to Sparetime Supply and Andrew Hosford for sponsoring our Leadership Mendocino Service Work Day with the Gardens Project. Volunteers picked up trash and tidied the community garden at State Street, which provides 50+ garden plots for community members to grow food and community wellness. We see giving back as a key part of local leadership. Leadership Mendocino will host an outdoor safe, socially-distanced Service Work Day each month with our next one January 23rd as a beach clean up. Get outside and give back! #sparetimesupply #leadershipmendocino

Alumni Update: Ulises Velasco Ulises is a busy guy "I am the Vice President of Student Services at Mendocino College. I am the Treasurer of the Chief Student Services Officers Association for California Community Colleges. Locally, I am a co-founder and steering committee member of the Mendocino Latinx Alliance. and I serve as President of the Rotary Club of Ukiah." Outside of work Ulises is dad to very cool 6 year old, Jackson. "What I remember most about Leadership Mendoci...no is the eye-opening experience learning about how diverse and community focused our county is. There are so many wonderful people doing incredible work in our community. Sadly, a lot of their work goes unnoticed. I love that Leadership Mendocino highlights some of that work. The other aspect of Leadership Mendocino I truly loved was how it brings a professionally diverse group of people and puts them in contact with each other. I would not have met as many people in our community had it not been for Leadership Mendocino. " See more

Alumni Update from Traci Boyl: Happy Holidays! Not as planned, not where I thought I’d be; yet, here I am, thriving in a position that feels like it was created just for me. Surrounded by an ethical, motivated, and creative team, I am solidly planting roots at the City of Ukiah. That glorious mess on State Street that will lead to a safer, more walkable, and vibrant downtown, the newly formed Diversity and Equity Committee, Emergency Management, and Economic Development are ...just a few of the projects that I have the opportunity to be involved in. Nature, adventure, exploration, and hanging out with my kiddos and grandkids enable me to find enjoy work-life balance. Forever grateful for community and health. I’ll never forget our first weekend in Philo, Leadership Mendocino Class 22. Fireside with a group of people who, before that weekend, were strangers. We laughed, we cried, we challenged each other to communicate, to be vulnerable, we challenged each other to grow. And that is precisely what I did; still growing strong.
