Florence wants to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR and say THANK YOU to all our supporters! December 31st at midnight our matching fund campaign came to a close. A generous donor had offered to match all donations up to $15,000. Thanks to you, we hit and surpassed that goal!... We’re excited to share that you helped us raise a grand total of $32,500 last month! We are both humbled and thrilled to be able to continue our mission to help medical-needs, behavioral-needs, and senior dogs. YOU and your generosity make that possible.

Our first adoption event of the year at Starbucks in Oceanside was a big success! Thanks to our wonderful volunteers and fosters for coming out and helping our dogs meet their potential new families

Little Miss Pippa has found her home!! She came to us as a medical pull from a local shelter due to an enlarged eye. We got her in immediately to see our veterinarian who put Pippa on a several times a day regime of various eye medications until we could see an ophthalmologist. The specialist determined she was blind in that eye and since it was painful for her, a decision was made to remove it. That didn’t stop her new mom and dad from falling in love with her... She is living the good life now and getting tons of LOVE!! Congratulations Pippa

Success story time! Do you guys recognize the dog in the middle? Liesel was brought to VCA Mission Animal and Bird Hospital on the 4th of July by a Good Samaritan. She escaped her yard after being spooked by fireworks, and was sadly hit by a car. Her family was located, but they couldn’t provide her care and decided to relinquish her. That’s when LCAL stepped in to save her life. She won over the entire team at VCA including Felicia, who fostered her for several weeks. We a...sked for help with Liesel’s medical bills, and our amazing supporters came through for us once again!! We raised nearly $1400 for her medical care, thanks to this wonderful community. Leisel’s injured leg ultimately needed to go, but just before her amputation surgery, Felicia and her family decided their pack just wasn’t complete without her. Liesel, you are a champion!! Congrats on your happy ending, and here’s to a much happier 2021

ADOPTED!!! Prim is in for the adventure of her life with her new family. They came all the way from Idaho to meet her and knew immediately she was the one for them. Mountain biking, 4-wheeling, lots of hiking and a cabin in the mountains to visit on the weekends will keep her busy! Have fun Prim!!

Did we tell you about Ernie getting his big break? Not only did he get ADOPTED.....but his new mom is a dog trainer in LA and works in the entertainment industry. Ernie caught her eye because he resembled her other dog, River (on the right in the picture). With the addition of some black to Ernie’s face, he will be able to serve as a double for River Congratulations Ernie!!

Flip or flop? Florence is a bouncy, playful puppy who needs a home with lots of love and boundaries to help her gain confidence. She’s dog selective and would make a great playmate for the right pup, but needs to learn that her humans are there to protect her, not the other way around. When she’s not playing or giving kisses to her favorite volunteers, Florence enjoys rolling around in the grass and basking in the sun. Check her out! https://lastchanceatlife.org/florence-border-collie-whippe/

Haaaave you met Jacob? Amazingly, he’s still here! Jacob, a one year old male shepherd, is now our longest resident. He’s worked so hard to learn his manners, and has come such a long way since this video was made, and though can still use a bit of training, but he’s more than ready for his forever home! This past weekend we had our favorite vets and staff from Shiloh Veterinary Hospital come out to the adoption center to complete the medical intakes on all the new arrivals as well as complete some spay/neuters and other well care for our adoptable dogs! They were there for THIRTEEN hours taking care of our rescues! . . They are based out of Los Angeles but cover SoCal and are in the works of adding a San Diego based mobile hospital too! We just wanted to give them a shout-...out and share that we are so grateful to have their expertise and care provided to our group! . . Give them a follow! And if your pets prefer having the vet care come to them, you’ll want to get on their client list! They are awesome! See more
