Due to the unstable conditions in the next few months, SCYA has reluctantly postponed the 2020 SCYA's Women's Boating Clinic to September 2021. There will be more information coming. An alternative platform for 2020 is still under discussion, so please keep in touch and stay tuned.

Today marks 90 years since the famous Aviatrix, Amy Johnson, visited Royal Perth Yacht Club on the 8th of July 1930 During her visit to our original Club... House, located at the foot of William Street, Johnson was accompanied by Commodore WJ Winterbottom (pictured) for a cruise along the Swan River on-board 'Wilana'. It was an honor for RPYC to host Ms Johnson, who was a British icon and global superstar for her ground-breaking efforts in the aviation industry. In 1930, Amy became the first woman to fly solo all the way from England to Australia, landing in Darwin on the 24th of May. This 19-day journey is still classed as one of the industry's finest achievements. In the years to come, Ms Johnson would set multiple records in the air, including the fastest flight from Britain to Japan, South Africa and India. Amy was a true inspiration to generations of women before and after her - a legacy that continues to live on. #RPYC #FromTheArchives #AmyJohnson #BritishPilot #Aviatrix
