Attended the 29th Annual Insolvency Conference. Hard to get work done down here with the weather being so nice but learned some good stuff.

Though we generally focus on bankruptcy and estate planning, today we finalized a lengthy probate case for a client. The client came to us with a will that directed the estate but failed to transfer the home into a trust which resulted in a long drawn out probate case (1.5 years). Remember, if you own real estate in California, its recommended to create a family trust to avoid such outcomes, as a will only lays out a road map of who gets what and only covers a limited estate value, forcing the property to be dragged through probate.
