LMUD is proud to announce the 2020, Employee of the Year, Greg Kitchen. Greg began working for the district in 2005 as a laborer and promoted to meter reader in 2008. In 2017, Greg began his meterman apprenticeship and was promoted to Journeyman Meterman on February 2, 2020. He now serves as LMUD’s only meterman. Through hard work and determination, Greg has moved from an entry-level position to his current position as Journeyman Meterman, said LMUD’s General Manager Doug Sm...ith. Greg is willing to tackle any project head on and the expertise he has developed is extremely valuable to the District. Greg’s co-workers will tell you that there’s not much he can’t do. His expertise in handling trouble calls for high bills, solar installations and everything in between has made him the go-to guy for many of the district’s departments. Join us in celebrating Greg Kitchen, LMUD’s, 2020 Employee of the Year. See more
Thank you to crew foreman, Adam Hull, for sending us this photo of the damaged pole that caused last nights power outage. Our linemen worked through the night to replace this pole and restore power to Janesville and Standish. We understand that outages never happen at a convienent time (especially in the middle of night in January!) but rest assured, when they do happen, it’s all hands on deck until the job is done! So if you see a lineman, stop and say thanks! We sure do appreciate all they do!
Talk about #TBT! Thank you to Jeremy Couso and SusanvilleStuff for this great piece about the history of electricity in Susanville. To put it into perspective...today, LMUD serves over 10,000 customers, with the average home using about 12,000 kilowatts a year. On a monthly basis, our reliability rating is 99.9% and our energy rates are at least 20% lower than the nearest investor-owned utility! We’ve come a long way baby!
We thank the Susanville CHP for this information regarding the vehicle vs pole collision that caused the January 30th power outage.
