What a moment at the Pasadena Rodeo as they bring out 13 unmanned horses with American Flags draped across their backs to remember the 13 soldiers who gave their lives fighting for this great country.

Yesterday Johnny, Jen, our girls, and I joined the Tribute Walk in Norco Honoring the 13 Fallen Marines, Sailor, and Soldier lost in the Kabul Attack. We brough...t the 13 Combat Boots provided by Marines and their families stationed at 29Palms Base to use in the tribute. While I helped strap the boots into the stirrups backwards (symbolizing the fallen) and attached the name tags I had made for each of the fallen that’s when it hit me again as to how young they all were. We then watched as each riderless horse was meticulously decorated with beautiful sashes with the names and ranks of the 13, with red, white and blue paint, flags, and the lead horse (Smokey) in purple to represent and honor our fallen. The walk had started so we mounted our horses and walked near the rear seeing more riders and walkers join from the community. Cars and trucks joined in the right lane showing their flags for support driving slow nearby. It was very humbling and heartwarming seeing everyone unite as we walked up the hill families came out of their homes to stand proud with signs of support. We concluded the walk at Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui family's home where gifts and donations were handed to his father. He was given handshakes and hugs from a grateful community for the service of their son and to comfort them in their loss. As I dismounted my horse to tell his dad sorry for his loss and we morn with him, he said Thank you for everything you’ve done to honor our son! My eyes filled with tears as I felt his gratitude and pain! God Bless him for thanking us when we are the ones Truly Grateful for his son’s service and his ultimate sacrifice and Pray for Healing to his family! As they mourn so do we! We wanted to let them know they as all the families of the fallen are not alone and we are here for all of them! Thank you to our awesome friend Jen for driving up from SD to walk with us and girls! Thank you Jillian Omar Cortez for collecting the majority of the combat boots! Thank you MCX 29 Palms embroidery shop for rushing the order so we’d have the name tags for Sunday! Most of all THANK YOU Melinda C Wood for coordinating and hosting this event! God Bless you! I can tell my kids to be Respectful, Humble, and Kind but I believe showing them is how they will really understand what those words mean.

Yesterday was such an honor to ride on behalf of the 13 fallen. We met in the alley behind Boot Barn in Norco, there were 13 of us that walked our horses each h...onoring a different soldier. Marines from 29 Palms donated their boots and we placed them in our stirrups backwards representing each fallen soldier. Their names were embroidered to attach to the Velcro along the stirrup above the boots that were placed backwards. My horse Gigi and I had the honor to represent US Marine Corps Corporal Hunter Lopez, age 22. We also had beautiful sashes that were made hanging down from the horn on each side of our horse that also stated the name of the fallen that each horse was representing. They were used for our memorial but each one will be mailed to the Fallen‘s family. We each carried a purple rose that Melinda Wood had made, they were beautiful! Riders were dressed in red white blue and purple to honor the fallen. . Many horses were also decorated and caring flags. The number one person that started off the memorial was an eight year old boy carrying a huge American flag leading the way. What a brave soul he was to endure the walk in the heat (104) carrying the flag with such a great pride. Norco and Riverside posse followed which looked like more than 100 horses. About 100 other riders rode behind us along with Jeep’s and numerous people walking holding flags. It was about a 2 mile walk, then we reached the house of the fallen from Norco, US Marine Corps Lance Corporal Kareem M. NIKOUI, age 20. Such emotion and love. Neighbors were handing out water. Kareem’s dad was holding strong shaking hands and hugging folks. It was noticeable that he was holding back the tears many times.such grace and love he displayed for us all! Melissa Wood coordinated this event and gave the father of the fallen the 13 purple roses we had carried to their house as well as a bag of some donations and cash. During the silence around 200 or more horses all circled around this home. Such unity was felt as well as great sadness for all 13 families that lost their loved one. Thank u Melinda C Wood for all you did to make this possible! This day and the 13 brave soldiers that tragically lost their life’s will not to be forgotten. Some pictures were taken by the ladies that r mentioned above Thanks for letting me share

Asking for a friend. Yes,really. Looking for two broke horses. They would like Quarter horses. They have had horses before. They would do a pre purchase vet check. Jean Graham, Ellen Muesse Jacobson, any ideas?
