There is a home for EVERY cat! Some just need a little more time than others. It’s hard to believe with kitten season in full swing, a 12-year-old cat with early stage kidney disease, would be adopted in less than a month of us pulling her from the shelter but it happened! Sophie was adopted by a very special family Sophie is doing great! It was great because she warmed up to us right away and is very social. We are slowly letting her see our dog Sydney from the other side... of the gate, but not yet interact. Sophie used the litter box and ate food right away. She seems to have adjusted well. She slept on the bed and seemed super comfortable. Foster mom Mayra, was totally right that Sophie wakes up before 6am and that is super adorable! At the vet today, we got her fur cut in a few places, got bloodwork, nails trimmed and got the food prescription. She did well at the vet, although she didn't really like getting her blood drawn. She has such a sweet personality and fits right in. We can't thank you enough! Here is a pic of her favorite spot so far, curled up on the bed. Thank you! Heartwarming Adoption After eight years in the Lapcats program, (yes you read that right eight years), Zoey has found her 4-ever home! This girl was rescued from the shelter back in the olden-days when the shelter euthanized FIV+ cats. She was in several foster homes and finally landed in the LapCats Manor where she was THE BOSS for 6 years! ... She is feisty, sassy, bratty, and very loving. The minute you sit down she’s in your lap but don’t divert your attention away from her or you will get a whack! Here’s her first update from her mom (and the purrfect adopter)! FIV+ kitties are just the very best. There's a stigma attached to them that isn't deserved and they are just as deserving of loving homes as others. After losing my 2 previous FIV Lapcats alums to two different types of cancer, I reached out and asked if there were any FIV+ kitties that might need a home full of love, crazy kids, and all the cozy spots a kitty could want. I was sent bios of several that might fit in but I'll admit, Zoey's story drew me to her and it was never really a decision. I wanted to bring her home despite her playful, and to be frank, kind of bratty attitude. This girl fit seamlessly into my busy household. She quickly claimed me as her own, sleeping on me every night, laying just touching me every moment she gets. She tolerates my kids antics, the other cats don't phase her. She loves to play almost as much as she loves to eat. Her purr is constant and the little kisses we get have completely stolen our hearts. Happy TEN YEAR Cataversary I adopted Napoleon (previously MacGyver) on 1/17/2011. We just celebrated his 10th anniversary with us!!! I remember going into PetSmart to see the available LapCats and being dead set on adopting a kitten. Then this black beauty gave me golden kissy eyes and I was a goner... He is bossy, stubborn, and demanding and always gets his way. My husband says we have the same personality He is also very playful, cuddly and loving. LapCats is honored to be the recipient of an Eagle Scout project from Katelyn Guttridge of BSA Troop 118G in Elk Grove. Animal lover Katelyn, wanted her project to be purposeful yet meaningful to her, so she chose to create weatherproof feeding stations for LapCats. They will be used for Community Cats being cared for in managed cat colonies in the Elk Grove/Sacramento area. These feeding stations will help community cats have a safe, clean haven to eat and shelter in. As p...art of her Eagle Scout project, Katelyn was required to fundraise to cover the costs needed to complete her project. As an added bonus, she asked her fellow scouts to assist her with a food/supply drive to benefit LapCats. Because she was able to obtain so much extra money in funding, Katelyn not only presented us with these amazing feeding stations AND donated food and supplies, but she was also able to purchase additional supplies and present LapCats with a $250 gift certificate to Petsmart! Troop 118 G was established in February of 2019 when the Boy Scouts of America amended their rules to include female scouts. Katelyn began her scouting journey at that time and very ambitiously reached this prestigious rank quickly. She will be the very first female to be awarded Eagle Scout in our area! We could not be more honored to be the recipient of this amazing project, but to also be a small part of such a historical occasion. From all of us at LapCats, THANK YOU so much to Katelyn Guttridge and congratulations on this extremely well-deserved award!

Adoptable This beautiful trio of eight-month-old kittens is looking for a home. Bunny the tortishell Manx, Party Girl the black and white, and Lucy the black beauty were born on a golf course in March at the beginning of the Covid shut downs. They lived there for about four months until they were rescued and taken into foster care where they have been for the last four months. ... They are looking for a patient adopter who will work with their shyness and bring them out of their shells. Of the three, Bunny is probably the most shy but she soaks up the attention as do her sisters. When you pet Lucy, she solicits more petting by giving you a head bump! Grandpa had his sutures removed from his entropion surgery on Thursday. I was hopeful his cone could come off but unfortunately, he has to have it on for another 10 days and continue to receive meds. He continues to be in good spirits, constantly purrs and talks to me, and loves human companionship. We went out for a walk in the backyard today and he enjoyed the sunshine. These lovely boys were found in the parking lot of a busy shopping center last year and placed in foster care where they flourished. We thought we found their forever home but it didn’t work out that way so they are back in foster and homeless again. ... They are about a year old and don’t need a home, they need the RIGHT home! They are shy at first so they need a quiet environment with someone who’s willing to give them a little time and patience to come out of their shells. They like to play, are good with other gentle cats, and are very quiet. Archie and Tigger really love being together and are amazingly beautiful.
