Jack-o-lanterns can pose a fire hazard for a curious cat, so switch to fake flames instead. Battery-powered candles can give you the light you need without the same level of risk for your home. Remove any lit candles from your decorations to keep your pet out of harm's way.

Some candies can be poisonous to pets, so keep Halloween treats out of their reach. Chocolate can cause stomach issues and may even be fatal if ingested. Xylitol, a sugar substitute found in some candies, can be seriously dangerous for your pet. Keep sweet treats stashed away so your pet can stay safe all October long!
