Today on #tbt we learn about the Lakeport-Lower Lake Steamship that would shuttle people across Clear Lake back in the 1800's days. What do you think? If there was one, would you use a ferry service today to get from one side of the lake to the other? Or should this mode of transportation remain in the past? Thanks to the Crocker Art Museum and Aus Jarod For sharing this fascinating local feature perfect for a #tbt If you want to learn more about Clear Lake (of today), you can call us anytime at Water Resources (707) 263-02344 or message us directly here on the facebook!

Hello Lake County Boaters! Do you know of unmarked boating hazards on Clear Lake such as submerged rocks, pilings, shallow areas, or missing buoys at boat ramps? Please take this survey! (https://arcg.is/1LW5Tn) You can also fill it out on your phone if you are out on the lake and notice one of these hazards when you are boating. The survey will use your phone's GPS location to identify where the hazard is or you can select the location if you are not out on the lake.... With the lake level getting very low, we acknowledge that there are more hazards than usual and the team at Lake County Water Resources is working to address this issue. We thank you all for the support and participation.

The results of this survey will be used to better advise Department staff on the topic and inform management of the shoreline. Please find the survey here: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSfodem_tNnoHFwkDp/viewform The survey will take appr...oximately two minutes to complete. Attention TRAIL USERS: With more rain in the forecast this week, it is that time of year to temporarily close trails to bikes and horses. As of Wednesday 1/13/2...021 trails will be closed to non-hikers for erosion control measures. We will routinely asses the trails as drier weather approaches and will notify the public in the following months once trails are safe again for all users of Highland Springs trails. Stay safe, - Daniella Cazares, Water Resources Program Coordinator See more

Today on Science Friday .... did you know that Lake County has led the nation in one of the most impressive and beneficial wastewater recycling and environmentally-savvy energy production programs? That's right, thanks to work from Lake County Special Districts, California and the Northern California Power Agency our county has avoided producing over 16 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions due to the lower CO2 content of geothermal steam since ~2000. Instead of going... into the lake, Special Districts and partners assembled the "Wastewater Resuse System" (aka the loop, or circle) where treated wastewater is sent via pipeline to the "The Geysers" and used to make steam energy. Injecting treated water into "The Geysers" protects local waterways and has produced electricity without releasing greenhouse gas emissions. Way cool, huh?! You can learn more about this awesome achievement here: http://www.lakecountyca.gov//Reusing+Wastewater+to+Reduce+ And learn more about the Northern California Power Agency here: https://ww2.energy.ca.gov/title24/tour/geysers/index.html

Be aware of VERY low water levels in Clear Lake! Ramp closures are sometimes necessary to protect boaters from damaging private property and to protect public infrastructure from damage. Thank you Lake County Public Services, California for taking the necessary action to protect our valuable aquatic resources. If you have any questions regarding this subject please call Public Services at (707)-262-1618.
