A quick story and a joke that Mr. Tommy Lasorda shared with LHPD a few years ago..... True story - Several years ago, at a holiday banquet honoring La Habra PD employees and their families, Mr. Lasorda "crashed" our party! Mr. Lasorda made a special appearance at the event and addressed our personnel - many of whom are big Dodger fans. Obviously, it was a thrill for all of us to meet Mr. Lasorda! He spent some time telling some stories and telling us how much he loved and ...appreciated the profession of law enforcement, which is no surprise to those who knew him. Here is a quick joke that Tommy told that night and had the crowd rolling: People ask me, "Tommy, you have been married for decades! What is the secret to a long-lasting, fulfilling marriage?" I said, "easy...dinner and dancing every night!" (All the ladies in the audience sighed at the romantic secret and elbowed their husbands to take note) Tommy went on, "yep, dinner and dancing every night - she goes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I go on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays." Mr. Lasorda was a class act. He loved our country, he loved our military, and he loved law enforcement. Our condolences to the Lasorda family, Dodger and baseball fans everywhere, and may he rest in peace...

Tis Nov 1st already!! You know what that means... :{ :{ :{ NO SHAVE NOVEMBER is here!! :{ :{ :{ Just to warn you, you may be seeing some more "scruffy-ness," mustaches, and/or beards on our officers as the month progresses...... For a few years now, LHPD does this as a fundraiser to put towards a particular cause or need. Our personnel do a "buy-in" in order to participate. Once the month is over and we finalize the funds, they are donated. Last year, we donated the money to a CHP officer who was shot in the line of duty in the Riverside area. This year, sadly, we are going to donate our funds to the family of retired LHPD Corporal Steve Polley. Cpl. Polley retired in 2015 and recently succumbed to cancer. Cpl. Polley served honorably in the US Army prior to serving 25 years protecting the streets of La Habra. We terribly miss Cpl. Polley and his sense of humor. He was a husband, father, and friend to many. RIP Cpl. Polley...

Bike Patrol Out on Halloween Our bike patrol team of officers had a fun time cruising the residential streets tonight! They probably won't admit it, but we think they did get a little creeped out by a few really good and scary costumes tonight!! Our patrol officers spent a lot of time driving slowly around neighborhoods to keep a presence and deter vehicles from driving fast on streets where "trick or treating" was occurring. Our officers received MANY "thank you's," 's, and people showing Halloween love!!
