Every year, the Los Altos City Council hosts a retreat where they discuss the progress of their goals and establish priorities for the next year. Before the 2021 retreat, residents are being asked for their input regarding what they think the City's priorities should be. The 2020 priorities featured goals such as land use, public safety, community engagement, and much more. These priorities guide City Staff and help prioritize projects that are important to the Council and the public. Hi everyone and Happy Holidays! The Los Altos Youth Commission has partnered with the Family Giving Tree (FGT) in an effort to give everyone a happy holiday season! For 30 years, FGT has been granting holiday wishes to children, seniors and adults experiencing homelessness. Currently, the Los Altos Youth Commission has already raised approximately $900 and would like your help in making their final goal of $1000 possible! Thank you to those who have already donated, and please join us in bringing smiles to the faces of those who need it the most; into those neighborhoods hardest hit by the pandemic. Summer Activity Alert! The City of Los Altos Public Arts Commission has put together a Downtown Public Art Scavenger Hunt! This activity will take you in search of a number of public art pieces scattered throughout Downtown Los Altos, all you have to do is match the art piece to its location. Complete your scavenger hunt by September 1st, 2020 and turn it in at Tin Pot in Los Altos to redeem a free kids scoop. Looking for a fun activity to do outdoors while social distancing? 5 x 5 x 5 for Hope is a low-key, non-competitive 5K where participants can do any event (e.g., walk, run, hike, bike, swim, skate, kayak, etc.) of their choice. This can be done wherever and whenever they want (by August 5) for just $5. To help boost interest and raise funds, participants are encouraged to recruit 5 friends to join and spread the word.
