If you wish to be vaccinated in the Village on April 24, we need you to take action today! Please see below for details. Village Management Services received confirmation from MemorialCare of an allotment of enough Moderna doses to vaccinate Village residents aged 18 to 54, as well as others from older age groups who have not yet been vaccinated. Recent vaccine shortages made it impossible to gauge whether continued resident vaccinations would be possible, so we are grateful ...for this news of additional doses of vaccine. We will hold a clinic on Saturday, April 24, at Clubhouse 7 to administer first doses. If you wish to be vaccinated, please complete the vaccination form immediately at https://bit.ly/3wYfzNo. You will receive notification of your appointment time via the CodeRed notification system no later than April 22. You must be 18 years or older and a full-time resident of Laguna Woods Village to receive the vaccine. Laguna Woods Village is a 55+ community; however, there are dependents and adult children authorized to live in the Village. Please direct any questions to [email protected].

Today is National Pet Day, founded in 2005 by celebrity pet lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige, dedicates the day to those pets who may not always get the companionship and attention pets deserve. While loving our pets is something we do every day, today’s observance encourages helping out orphaned pet companions to improve their health and enhance their opportunities for adoption. Sometimes their human companions aren’t well. Making sure their forever... furry friends are receiving the best of care will help relieve stress and worry. National Pet Day is an excellent time to go through your pet’s toys and throw away any items that are no longer safe, verify when vaccinations are due and schedule an appointment to update if they are due, check collars to ensure tags are secure and numbers are current and more. Ways to celebrate #NationalPetDay include donating supplies to pets in shelters, help a friend with pets who is recovering from an illness, adopt a pet, give your pets extra love or make a special home-cooked meal for your pets. Share pics of your pets with us!

This year, Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, begins today, continues with celebrations that last up to 16 days and culminates in the Spring Lantern Festival on February 26. The Lunar New Year signifies a chance to start fresh, enjoy family and share in the hope of good things to come. Today marks the first day of xin chou year, or Year of the Metal Ox. Hong Kong-based feng shui master Thierry Chow told CNN that the ox is a hardworking zodiac sign that ...signifies movement. So, hopefully, the world will be less static than last year and get moving again in the second half of the year, she said. She added that the metal element of the year represents an emphasis on metal industries in 2021, from jewelry to the needle of a syringe.
