Many people are reaching another state of fatigue as we move into another month of this pandemic. It is normal to have fatigue. Many have also reported within six degrees of separation or even closer knowing someone who has passed from COVID related causes. Many also remark about the importance of being able to say kind words to their departed, and an interest in making their lives end with kindness. But, have we not noticed that every day we move closer to the death of th...is dunya. Perhaps, it is time for us to take a new tact and start treating the ones we love and care about as if they were dying a little more every day. If it matters at the end, it matters now, because we don't know our end. We need to consider changing our course to something better. Let this tribulation awaken us to what we have been missing and bring us all closer inshallah.

I am so honored to be supervising, and I am pleased to introduce you all to my new MFT intern Princess Reggie. She is currently available for clients via teletherapy across California on Thera-link. Princess states "Begin from within to make sense of your past, to overcome present-day challenges, and to discover how bright your future can become. I offer a safe space for you to investigate your identity, background, and life experiences without judgment. And tools to unlearn patterns of thinking and behavior that may be holding you back."

Please share and get out the word to find Huda. If we all work together and spread the word someone will recognize her. It is important that we do this and do it quickly. Time is of the essence in these types of cases.

Please share this information broadly. Time is always of the essence with missing children. Share often and broadly. If we all work together someone will see this and know something.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: By Him in whose hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allah would replace you with people who would sin and they would seek forgiveness from Allah and He would forgive them.... Source: Sahih Muslim 2749 If Allah says to a thing Be and It is, then why do we try to make it into something it is not. Leave perfect obedience to the angels and be human. Repent before the soul reaches the collar bone.

Some of you know that I use logotherapy. So, I am certainly a fan of Frankl. And, I thought this so fitting for our times. We need to pause and think about what we are often presented with. I find myself many times wanting to comment, or be helpful. However, you cannot decode the physiological responses happening behind the screen with keyboard warriors. I made the mistake once of trying to help someone who had another agenda behind their screen. As a Believer, inshallah, I w...ill not make that mistake twice. And, as such, sometimes the response is just simply peace. Peace be with us all. One day I hope to find people standing up for others and saying things like..."you really have no basis to assert and lend definitions to people based on one tweet, one post or a virtual interaction that has no real substance".... or someone saying "that person is a Muslim, therefore, your conclusions are perhaps inaccurate or taken out of context".... or "if you really are concerned did you reach out to him/her and ask them what was going on, what happened to them or what they were thinking." There are far too many people who just want to tear down, destroy, and be vicious to one another. That is easy. You can destroy anything within minutes. It is much more difficult to build something and to stand up for others. Next time you are confronted with the space between a stimulus and a response, I suggest giving someone the benefit of the doubt or give them an excuse. These behaviors access our virtues. Something that is many times void and absent in our society on social media. Peace be with us all!

One way to finding fulfillment is to want what you have, and to not want what you don't have. This will clue you into your desires and what is driving them (Laird, August, 21,2014). Often, you will find it is not what you thought.

It is so easy to armchair criticize and be critical of others. It is much more difficult to attentively listen and get to know another, so that you may be able to really help move that person to a better place. I remember a time, and unfortunately, it still occasionally happens, where a random person would approach you and give you their take on your practice of prayer for example. Not knowing you or what you believe or what madhab you follow, but nonetheless, see it as their... duty to set things right with you in particular. We see this manifest every day, particularly in social media on larger global issues and smaller personal issues; this blind and uncaring critique of others. Admittedly, when I was younger this came so easily to me. I was thrilled to have the insight to bear on situations, even when it really didn't matter what I thought. It wasn't relevant to the progression of any situation. As I grew in my own development and older, I have tried to be less critical and more open, and look more closely, and really listen. Listening is so key to any movement of any soul. And, as I get older, I sometimes wonder if the veils that were lifted for me to have insight to be critical -- if I would have been better off not having them lifted at all. Some types of knowledge are not beneficial to my own development. When I look back at times when others have been able to help move me, it was when they really knew me. For example, back to the prayer example, when I first became Muslim it was my roommate Judith Thomas who was able to teach me movements and parts of prayer, because she was sincere in her approach with me, she lived with me and knew me ( the good, the bad and the insecurities). And although I used to frustrate her at times, she was patient with me. People like this we are not likely to ever forget in our lives. I will certainly never forget her. I love her as a sister and inshallah always will. People who just set out to randomly critique us as we see in social media are a dime a dozen and really not too helpful. Do you think if a person has a problem of character, courage, or piety it will be addressed through the masses? You will have much more success over a cup of tea one-on-one. But between these two methods, one is about the ego of the one critiquing and the other is about the soul(s) that need(s) healing. We really need to think about which one we choose. We will not and do not always get it right, but there is something to learn in that too. Does a person always have to be right to be supported? Do they have to be infallible to be treated with manners and respect? May Allah save us from our own base needs. (Dr. Laird, August 13, 2014) admin See more

There are many kinds of love, & I hope that all of you get to experience the kind that gives you courage to be better than you are, not less than you are, and propels you to be your best self. The kind of love that makes you believe anything is possible. We all deserve it. And, it is worth holding out to find it ( Dr. Heather Laird, July 30, 2017).
