Presenting a pair of mezzotints by LBG artist, Riccardo Giovanni Patriarca. Nudo di Donna En Contre-Jour... Mezzotint - An engraving technique capable of producing very fine gradations of tones; its name derives from the Italian mezzo meaning middle. Using a special tool called a rocker, a metal instrument with serrated half-moon edge, the printmaker roughens the entire surface of a soft metal (copper) plate. Were the plate printed at this stage, ink would cling evenly to the surface and print completely black. Working from dark to light, the artist uses a burnisher to smooth out areas of the plate. Areas burnished smooth hold no ink. The artist can achieve a range of tones by varying the smoothness or roughness of the metal surface. This extremely demanding medium is rarely used today. LBG artist Jadranka Mihajlovic Muniti was born in Dubrovnik, Croatia. She is a member of the Croatian Painter’s Association in Dubrovnik, where she has been living and working her whole life. Loved by the public for her large, strongly colored and hypnotic canvases, Muniti has been exhibiting her artwork for many years at the centuries old Dubrovnik Synagogue, situated in the Jewish Street, in the heart of Old Town. I’m an artist because it is my spiritual need and livelihood. To thrive, I must remain in a perpetual movement of creation Chahab Chahab was born in 1951 in Teheran (Iran). In 1974 he went to France to study. Chahab was educated in France from 1974 to 1982, decorative arts in Nice then sculptural art in Aix-en-Provence. From 1986 to 1990 Chahab studied sculpture and ceramics at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Since 1994 Chahab lives in France in the small town ...Nay at the foot of the Pyrenees. There he lives in an old flour mill that he changed into studios, gallery and an Artotheque '' in Dutch style. He’s has become known for his bright and intense colors due to the use of pure pigments in his paintings. He also makes graphics, color etchings, and sculpture in bronze and steel. His inspiration he finds in caveman’s painting, in archaeological sites and in primitive art.
