The response notice was received today...... our proposed adjustments to the IRS were accepted ! Saved our client $20,717.... Taxes penalties and interest..... If you get a notice.. Let us review it for accuracy!

I'm not really sure what this means - what the insurance companies will do in reaction to this - but - as of Oct 12, no more money from the government to the insurance companies - those of you that are getting subsidies, please be aware that you may be losing them soon !! Your health insurance costs may be increasing. I do not know at this time how this will affect the income tax treatment of the health insurance subsidies. Subsidies cut-off. On Thursday (Oct. 12, 2017), Pre...sident Trump issued an Executive Order aimed at letting small businesses band together across state lines to buy less expensive, less regulated health plans for their employees with fewer benefits . Afterwards, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Trump Administration will not make the next payment to insurers, scheduled for Wednesday October 18. Also that day, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) reportedly issued a statement saying that CSR payments to issuers must stop, effective immediately, and that CSR payments are prohibited unless and until a valid appropriation exists. The White House said that it could not lawfully pay the subsidies anymore. A White House statement said that based on guidance from the Justice Department, "the Department of Health and Human Services has concluded that there is no appropriation for cost-sharing reduction payments to insurance companies under Obamacare". I am in the office for a couple of weeks.....I may be barefoot! Hopefully the tax returns are more accurate than my shoe selection ! September 15 is the first deadline... October 15 is quickly approaching!

September 15 is the filling deadline for all but personal tax returns. I will be in Sacramento September 3. Please call Karie at the office if you want to come in for a meeting. Personal returns are due October 15. We would like to get a head start on these returns so please send your tax info to us as soon as you can. See you soon !

A reminder to everyone - if you get a notice, letter or any correspondence from the IRS or your state taxing agency, be sure to forward to us for review. I find that most of these notices have ERRORS and if they are not properly responded to, can create a tax headache !

WOW !! I just reviewed a prior year return for a client prepared by the well known franchise - there is an error on it and the client will get refunds of over $19,000 !!! That's a big mistake !!

We have been very busy this summer working with lenders. I have noticed an increased demand for documentation.
