Three estates full of treasures liquidated this week means thousands of items from the past have been sent back out into the world to be enjoyed for another lifetime. The number one question we receive daily, what do you do with the items that don’t sell? The answer is always the same, everything that can be sold is sold, and that means everything! We are not your average estate liquidation service. We don’t move items from house to house, we don’t have a warehouse, we don’...t need one. We are savvy and we are resourceful. Each project has a unique organized strategy and timeline and it’s been a thrill to see us succeed beyond measure in a time that has presented so many challenges and changes. The end of an era! We have loved our office on first street and will be sad to see the building torn down over the next few months. Our new digs are at 5150 El Camino Real in Los Altos, another building slated to be torn down and developed into condos but we will be enjoy it until the wrecking ball arrives.

It’s time to pack up the garlands and lights now that the hustle and bustle of the holidays is behind us. Are you a numbers person? I love them and look forward to this day every year to look back and analyze the company profits, expenses, payroll, and project load. . . . Today out of habit I sat down with a cup of coffee and my laptop and had a laugh to myself because I already know the numbers. All small business owners do after this year and they aren’t good. Well, I still sat and jotted notes and took tallies and much to my surprise I’m thrilled with what we were able to acc...omplish. . . . While we paused our in-home services in March we were safely able to liquidate 51 estates in total this year. The numbers break down to 18 prior to shelter in place and 33 post shelter in place. That’s 33 estates with each item carried out for curbside pickup, limited donation resources, and limited staffing for social distancing. . . . While that number on paper is far less than our typical 125 estates per year I’m more proud of us than ever. We have maintained our ethics and our quality service during a year unlike no other. Little projects like this help make staying home feel less like a burden and more like a treat. . . I’ve joked about my new role as head of operations for the Google Home Office Cafe (GHOC) since the start of shelter in place but it’s getting serious over here now that my husband won’t be returning to the office for a whole year! .... .
